Greetings all,
Been playing around. Installed the igniteTV app on a few devices. Do not have a problem on newer phones/devices. Still works on a S10 but it chokes on Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 is not that old. Still plays video from youtube and ctvnews. And it was fairly recent that this Nexus 6 was used for Whatsapp and Zoom and it was fine. Trying to do a little troubleshooting. What codec does the igniteTV app uses, is it a bandwidth hog?

Hi @myusername100,
Thank you for creating this topic of inquiry; we do hope that you will be able to get all the answers that you need. What specific issues are you having with the app on the Nexus device? Are you having any playback or viewing issues while using the app? What OS do you have on the Nexus 6?
If you are able to provide us with some more details, we would be able to assist you.
Regards,
RogersJermaine

I don't recall the exact version but it was Android 7.XX
The app installed fine so I am lead to believe it is compatible. My hunch right now the old Nexus 6 CPU doesn't have enough horse power, which I am inquiring about what codec the app uses. Thanks
Thanks

Hello,
Sorry to bring this up again. This is an off again on again hobby, trying to get this to work on older android devices. Still have not received an answer on the codec but are there any specification requirements for the app? The only thing I can find on line is it requires Android 7. Are there minimum memory and cpu requirements?
I can get the the tv guide grid but it will not play video. Always get the playback 2111 error. The latest version of the app is installed.
Thanks

One other thing, on Android is it possible to view within the browser and not the app? I can view within chrome or edge on a pc but on android it insists on downloading and using the app.
Cheers

I don't have Xfinity, but whenever I want to use my old Android phone to stream on a website that only offers an App option, I just switch to Desktop site mode, via the browser Menu button. I log in and then see if I can get an episode to play without an error message. I usually prefer the Firefox browser since it's the only one my phone can still update.

Thank you both for the suggestion and explanation. I tried several browsers set to desktop mode and it tells me to upgrade my browser? Does not do this on mobile mode. In mobile mode it forces me to use the app. Do have the most recent version. Firefox still only requires android 5 so the latest version is installed. Something else is going on. Maybe Android 7 and 8 is not enough despite their claims? I agree you with the more than adequate claim. I also tried an old windows tablet. Even in its day it was a 'budget' tablet. win10, 4gb ram, pretty modest celeron cpu, and it streamed fine. That suggest to me it is not using an intensive codec or requires alot of resources.
Base on your explanation I have no hope the app will work, I'll keep going on Mebe suggestion. Perhaps there is a work around to get Xfinity to work in desktop mode on Android, at least with firefox and edge.
Cheers
