texting right number but goes to wrong person

nottechsavvy
I've been around

Not sure where to go with this question. Over the weekend I send a text, shortly after I received a text back saying I had the wrong number. I confirmed the number was correct and asked the person to text me from their phone. I received a text from them then replied back. Again I got the same person saying I texted the wrong number. What can be happening here. Who should I contact Rogers or RedWireless?

Rogers, since Red Wireless is only the merchant (authorized dealer).

The only time I know of something similar happening, was when a friend of mine didn't pay her bill and the number was cancelled. Because she had it registered in iMessage though, it allowed her to text seemingly from that number. When the number was reassigned to a new customers that was using an Android device. She was still able to text me through iMessage from it but if I replied from a non-Apple device. Messages would go tothe person who had the number now on their Android.
Have you tried calling them to see if you can call their number and if it rings their device?

Which type of message did you sent to your friends device? a standard Text Message (sms), an RCS Message (Androids and newer iphones) or an iMessage (iPhones, iPads and iPods only)?
