Nokia FastMile 5G Gateway

rahul1616
I've been here awhile

Hello to whoever it may concern hopefully i will get to the right team or someone who can answer my concerns..

regarding this service.

Honestly never thought i would have experience like this from (Rogers) which is so called the best telecom providers in Canada.

So i heard about this internet plan for 55 dollars for 500GB seems like a good plan

i did receive the nokia box for that and i used it for first day yesterday works good and speed was good too but

Today it seems internet goes slow as compared to yesterday i checked internet speed and it was downloading 29mbps and uploading 10mbps which is slow for 100mbps internet. I also wanted  to have another frequency of 5GHZ and 2.4 GHZ to connect wifi to my smart lights ( they usually connect to wifi only if they are 2.4GHZ) which is wierd that for internet i know

All the internet providers are able to provide two wifi line for them

i did my research and couldnt figure it out

So i called customer service and here comes the horrible experience...

Concern 1. The tone of the customer service person i was talking too was so rude. I was trying to explain what is my need and what solution i would like .. She think she understand but clearly she didnt because she was changing my wifi from 5GHZ to 2.4GHZ and why would i want slow internet. I wanted two wifi frequency from one wifi so i can connect two different devices i dont think she really understood me.

And the tone that i got was unacceptable she should understand that she is customer service and she should understand what customer service means and stay ploite and empathetic towards me.

Concern 2.

I was supposed to get 5G but when i am checking router settings it says its connected with 4G and 5G wasn't even on in that so i explained that to her and she start some troubleshooting steps and as the last step she asked me to reset the whole modem. I totally understand that it can be one of the troubleshooting steps but it was already 1 hour in the call and i have to cook so i politely ask her that i cant reset the whole wifi as i have to change password and wifi settings again and need to sign in again on all the devices so can do later or tomorrow and i politely request for callback tomorrow and her words were " callback is not available" that was rude she could have said sorry sir but we cant do the callback for this and this reason but no......... I think sometimes you have to go step forward if client problem isn't resolved.

I checked the wifi description for rogers internet it says that if 5G isnt avialable then it would connect to 4G but at same time when i am checking coverage map i can see that 5G is available where i live.

Concern 3

the person who sold me the paln gave me plan for 45Dollars but on my email its saying 55 hopefully on my first bill i will get bill for 45 . hopefully i will get clarity on that

Thanks

I plan to stick around

Do you get 5G service on your phone at your location? Have you tried moving the unit to a different position in your house to see if you get 5G connection? Try closer to a window.

I would be delighted to get anywhere near 10mbps upload, I am lucky to get 1mpbs. Speed will vary depending on your location, the weather etc. It is a wireless service so it won't be as consistent as a wired service, that's just what it is.

You can separate the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi on the FastMile device under Network > WiFi Networks > 2.4Ghz and deselect 'Enable Single SSID' you can then either set a different SSID (network name) for 5Ghz or disable it entirely.

Can't speak to the pricing question.
