XB8 Gateway questions

fixplease
I plan to stick around

Hello:

I have the XB8 gateway with a 2 Gbps download speed at home.  I connected port 4 (2.5GB) to my Home Business Switch and I'm getting proper speeds for some of my main computers that have 2.5 GB ethernet cards.  I also have other devices connected on Ports 1-3 on the XB8 (camera, Ignite Tv, mesh wifi).  Will this affect the speed on port 4?  (ie is the 2 Gbps speed a cumulative one for all four ports with a max speed of  2.5 Gbps on port 4 and 1 Gbps on the other three ports?). So, if I'm using 100 Mbps on ports 1-3.  Would that leave only 1.7Gbps for port 4?

Would it be better if I disconnected ports 1-3 on the XB8 gateway and connected all the devices to my business switch? (The switch is a Cisco unmanaged)

1. Yes

2. Up to you.  For example, if a device currently on ports 1-3 could utilize a higher than 1 Gbps speed, while other devices are not needing high speed, then that would be one benefit.  However, please realize that very few things actually utilize that sort of speed.
