If you try to move to the Ignite X series modems, Rogers may try to move you off of your legacy services. The X series gateways that use the app are only issued for full Ignite services (internet, TV and phone) if I'm not mistaken.
IMHO, if it's just the wifi app you're after, it may not be worth swapping modems out.
