My 2.5 gb port on my modem is no longer outputting over 1 gb

I've been here awhile

For the last week or two, I have noticed that the speed of my modern 2.5 Gbps port is no longer goes above 900 Mbps.  I usually test this from a wired desktop PC which has a 2.5 Gbps network card to the orange port on the back of the modem.

Rogers sent a tech out, but he should have no clue; he just replaced the modem and left.  He try to convince me that the 900 Mbps was a good speed.  This was above his skillset to figure out.

I have made sure the network card driver was updated and I have installed a new Cat8 network cable.

Rogers said that the modem is receiving 1.8Gbps.

@andrew6123 : You can use the following link to test the speed at your Gateway:  You will need to be in the default Rogers configuration without bridged modem or other equipment involved, with the computer directly connected to port 4 via Ethernet and your equipment/firmware capable of speeds above 1 Gbps.

Since you had the same issue with different Gateways, I suspect you have an issue with your equipment, which is usually the case in similar threads on this forum. Check out the following additional link:

What speed are you paying for?   What speeds were you getting previously?  Did you make any equipment changes? Even when I was on 500 Mbps, I usually got 1.4 Gbps download on my Mac Mini M2 E10.

This seems reasonable if this was the only device but my second 10Gbps PC and my 2.5Gbps Access Point is not detecting any speeds over 1Gbps.  What is the likelihood that so many devices stop working.  This was working before and now it has stopped.

When testing, are these devices connected directly to the Gateway via Ethernet cable, without anything like a switch or other router in between?  Is the Gateway in the default mode and not "bridged"?

Did you do the test as outlined in the first part of my previous post?  What were those results and what speed are you paying for?
