How long does it take for the backend to acknowldege fiber install completion?

anthonyryan1
I've been here awhile

It's been 5 days since the Rogers crew came out and finished connecting fiber directly to my home. I spoke with the technicians and saw them do optical light level testing. Confirmed everything was ready.

But when I contact sales to change my plan, they say my house is still marked as "Not fiber ready" on their backend, and nobody has the authority to change it. So I can't get a fiber modem to start using my newly installed fiber.

Later that day, the support team said to try back in a couple days. 5 days later, they're saying try back in another week.

1. How long does it take for the sales backend to get updated information from the installation teams?

2. What can I do if the sales backend entry for my address does not update in a reasonable amount of time?

Did the installation techs actually say that the OLT and XGS-PON infrastructure was online and fully checked out or just that the fiber to your home was ready to be lit up?  It could be that the network teams still have some work to complete upstream from you and in the back-end.  I know you are eager to get your fibre Internet service installation completed.  Rogers would also like to start earning revenue so they are equally motivated to get your service activated.

When I flagged down a maintenance technician in their van about 2 years ago, they said the entire neighborhood was ready at the node and lit. That they  left buried metal or magnetic points to detect where to dig for each house. But due to COVID disrupting the rollout and being a brownfield deployment the project schedule got mixed up up and nobody was ever scheduled to complete the last 30 feet from the curb to a single house in the neighborhood.

It took me a 2 more year and 8 appointments where Rogers sent guys with modems (rather than fiber and shovels) to get the last 30 feet installed.

I do believe the fiber is lit. I don't have testing equipment at home, but the technician wrote 18.4 (presumably -18.4 dB) in the box at the demarc point in sharpie. We wouldn't have light if it wasn't lit on the other end.
