Bluetooth headset won’t pair

Before getting ignite TV my old headset worked fine and was told I needed a bluetooth headset to work with ignite.  I have a Panasonic TC-P50U1 television and trying to connect Sony Bluetooth headset Wh-RF-400.  Can you help I have tried everything is it because the television is older and can’t pair with bluetooth?

You don't pair the bluetooth device with the TV, you pair it with the IgniteTV box.  Here are the instructions:

I should have looked up the make/mode of your headphones. They are NOT bluetooth. They are RF and connect to a TV via analogue audio cables or a headphone jack.

I looked up your TV and it has an optical output, but no analogue audio output or headphone jack.

Your old headset should work with the TV the same way as before. In the TV settings you may need to set the audio to "external speakers" if your old headset used the optical connection.

If you wanted to, you could return the RF headset and get a proper bluetooth one. That would allow you to pair the bluetooth headset with the IgniteTV box and leave the TV speakers "on" (muted or as loud as you like) so that others in the room could listen to the TV's speakers. With the TV speakers set to "external", the TV speakers don't function.  I don't know if you watch TV with others present in the room.  How did you handle it before?
