Receiving MMS text messages in email

Text messages (MMS) are being directed to email instead of text. I have a Galaxy S6. The sender is using an I-Phone. How do I stop this?

@joeragno I'm not sure if this is the issue, but make sure that the iPhone user has enabled "Send as SMS" under Settings - Messages.  That user should still be able to send "free" iMessages to other iDevices, when connected via WiFi, or using data.

If that's not the issue, perhaps someone else has a suggestion.

One other item for the iPhone user to try - go to Settings - Messages - Send & Receive - deselect everything but the phone number (there may be e-mail addresses selected).

I tried this and confirmed SMS messages are turned on. It must be something else causing this to occur.

Thanks for the suggestion but didn't work for me. I was able to get text messages going from the iphone to the Samsung phone by deleting all conversation history & deleting the contact on the Iphone. Then I set up the contact again and only entered the phone number and not the email address. This worked. When I entered the new contact with both email and phone number, the text message would go to their email and not their text, on the Samsung phone. It's not an ideal solution as the person with the Samsung also has an IPAD, and I would like the option of sending an Imsg when they are on their home network.

*That was hinted at in the link I provided in my second post.

If you wish the option of choosing (and keeping all the information for your contact), see the following, from the same link.

Start a new iMessage

  1. Open the Messages app and tap the new message compose button.
  2. Type the person’s contact name.
  3. Tap the tiny gray arrow, and it will show all the phone numbers and email addresses you have saved for that contact. Their phone number and email address registered with iMessage will appear blue, and their phone number and email address not registered with iMessage will appear green.
  4. Tap the blue phone number (not the blue email address) to send an iMessage to their phone number instead of their email.
