Android Dual Sim - Dual RCS Support with Google Messages

gixxer_fan
I've been around

Now that Google Messages is rolling out support for Dual SIM RCS Messaging on both SIM, will Rogers be supporting this?

On my Pixel 9 Pro XL, I am currently seeing only one of the SIM card lines (1 Physical, 1 eSim, both Rogers) appear under Google Messages Settings > General > RCS Chats.  If I set default SIM for messaging, that one appears.  If I leave it unselected, it shows the physical.

When I click on the Info button beside the subscriber line that appears, it states "RCS is provided by your mobile carrier" indicating that it is Rogers currently withholding the feature for the second line.

90% of my messages come through the line that is not appearing. One is for work and one is personal.

Has anyone successfully seen dual SIM RCS support on their device in Canada?

Hello, @gixxer_fan.

Welcome to our Community. I appreciate your interest in dual SIM RCS messaging for your Pixel 9 Pro XL. I understand how important it is for you to have RCS support on both of your lines, especially for work and personal use.

At the moment, we cannot comment on the service we don't currently offer. Please stay tuned. We will update the Community as the information becomes available.

Cheers,
RogersMoin

Most devices are the issue. When you select an active SIM/eSIM, the other one does not have access to data, meaning RCS can not connect for that number. If you have data switching enabled, that won't solve the issue because it doesn't usually have enough time while temporarily switching to enable RCS. This is because most devices are DSDS (Dual-SIM Dual-Standby and not DSDA (Dual-SIM Dual-Active).

Hi!

I read it's available on the Beta version of Google Messages and I don't know if it's carrier dependent, as I have yet to try it.

It is available on Google Messages beta. The key to it now that is is enabled, is that the device must support data switching so it can keep the connection alive for both SIM's and check for new messages. It works fine for me on my s23 Uktra using the Google Messages beta with my Rogers eSIM and my T-Mobile pSIM.
