Airplane mode turns off randomly

I and my wife always turn on the airplane mode when travelling abroad to avoid international roaming charges. However on many occassions the airplane mode turns off automatically mostly at night and randomly, which leads to unnecessary roaming charges of $15 each day even for zero usage. Besides due to the different time zone were in, I get dinged another $15 till I turn the airplane mode on again. I've searched the internet for possible causes but have not found any. We both have Samsung Galaxy phones and only have the FB, WhatsApp,Uber, Instagram and the google mail apps installed. Not sure if it's a Roger's issue as I never faced this when I was with Telus using the same phone.

Having airplane mode turn off randomly on both of your Samsung Galaxy phones sounds frustrating. 

I have two Galaxy S23s and one S24 Ultra in my family, and we didn't experience the same in our recent trip. Were you using a foreign eSIM? Airplane mode must be off, and data roaming must be enabled to use a foreign eSIM.

I would contact Samsung as well, they also provide support, maybe they can check your device to see why it is doing that?

If it was a Rogers issue related to Samsung devices. I should experience it on my s23 Ultra but never have. I don't have any of those apps you mentioned on my phone.
