Ordered internet service 2 weeks ago and still not having it.

ohohohitskim
I've been around

I don’t know where to start…

I tried Bell Canada first for my new apartment since I’m using their mobile service.

When their technician came to install it, he told me that their line needed to be fixed and that it would take a few days to get the service. He also told me that the line connected to my apartment was a Rogers line. So, I ordered a starter bundle from Rogers on October 4th.

Since October 8th, I’ve been able to track my order. Apparently, the shipper forgot to include my unit number and buzz code, so the driver couldn’t make the delivery. Why didn’t they call? I’ll get to that later.

I immediately contacted both Purolator and Rogers.

Purolator said there’s a contract with Rogers that only Rogers can update the receiver’s address. For the same reason, they said they didn’t have the authority to change the delivery method, even though their pickup location is literally a 3-minute walk from my apartment. I understand this due to concerns about theft and security.

Rogers helped me update the address right away but said it would take 1–2 business days. Apparently, the contact number they put for me was “155555…” which explains why the driver couldn’t call me when they first attempted the delivery. Missing my unit number and buzz code is one thing, but my phone number?

Today, October 11th, I contacted Purolator to track my package, and they said they’re still waiting for Rogers to update the shipping address. The worst part is, even if it gets updated today, due to the long weekend, the earliest I can get my modem is next Wednesday, October 16th.

Last night, I received a text from Rogers stating that if I don’t install the modem I’ve “received,” the service will be canceled. Can I take offense to this? I haven’t even received the package due to their mistake, and now my service might get canceled? They couldn’t even help me update the delivery method (pick-up is only available for mobile devices, apparently).

Now the service will likely be canceled, and I’ve wasted so many days. At first, I was okay with it. It felt like I was having some kind of “digital detox.” But now, realizing I’m dealing with this due to their lack of communication or some strange contract system, I’m getting really upset.
