Hi and thx for your speedy reply....Yes I have 3 8300 HD pvr's and 2 4250 hd's I'm thinking of selling so just wanted to clear them out 1st.....Got all but one emptied and was just watching some pre recorded stuff when they shut me right down....Tried a couple tricks I read here and there which involved holding down the pause button and waiting for the envelope to appear then pushing the page down button 3 times which displayed the different HDD's I believe and then was supposed to revert to factory settings but no way to tell if it actually worked lol

I don't believe you can. All Rogers boxes need to be connected to an active Rogers RF-coax cable to do anything, like boot. The boxes are useless if not connected to an active Rogers digital cable line. Why do you ask? Do you wish to sell it and erase everything?
You could take the hard drive out of the PVR and format it on a computer...
P.S. It used to be you could take a PVR to a friend or neighbour that has Rogers digital cable TV (not IgniteTV) and the box would boot and be useable for a while, but I'm not sure if that works any more for the SA8300HD. I'm pretty sure it doesn't for the newer PVRs like the 9865, but the SA8300HD could be different.

Good luck. There are plenty for sale on places like Kijiji for next to nothing because everyone is migrating to IgniteTV and Rogers Legacy Digital Cable is rumoured to be ending late 2023. I wouldn't worry too much about what's on the HDD...

Yeah, I'll be lucky to be able to give them away .....Just subscribed with a fairly local internet company that is now into tv programming and "home phone" packages that offer the same and more programming for way less money than Rogers and I'm able to use all my Fire sticks with their service so no monthly box rental either.....Working well so far......
