Just received a phone call from a “Hammish” or that’s what I understood. Trying to make me change from my current cell phone plan with another provider. ROGERS comes up when they call. However they asked I provide two government ID’s. They called from 1-888-894-4255 and yesterday from 1-888-274-4255. They offered a better plan than what I currently have, however I’d still need to buy out my current contract. I was trying to wrap my head around the numbers and asked that he email me the details and he said he could not as it’s always changing. I asked that he verify my acct number (I have tv/internet/home phone) and he required my DOB and email. He started to tell me my home address and I hung up. He called back but I did not answer. It’s hard to know these days!

Call and ask to be placed on their INTERNAL do not call list. You are entitled to requesting to not be contacted. but the default setting is everyone is opted in if they are a customer, unless you ask to be excluded.

You're right, it really is hard to tell if a call is legitimate or not these days, especially since it's quiet easy for the scammers to spoof any phone number.
Having said that, did you previously have an account with Rogers? If yes, then it could be our Winback team trying to get in touch with you.
I always advise our customers to be vigilant sharing their financial information over the phone or online.

I have had three calls from different numbers over the past week call display says "Rogers"

I currently have Ignite Internet and TV, not interested in cell phone so if legit stop calling me!!!

I finally answered and it was someone on behalf of Rogers trying to sell me a mobile plan, is their anyway to not get sales calls? I have an excellent mobile plan that Rogers will never beat, so useless to call me.

I got a call a couple of weeks ago offering a ridiculously good deal to add Rogers internet to my Rogers mobile account. It was going to be $44.95 or something similar per month and included Netflix and Amazon Prime which we already have but pay additionally for. At the time I suggested that she call back later after I spoke to my wife as we had just recently switched companies.
Today she called to confirm the deal and added an ignite package as well for the same price. I foolishly gave her my driver's license then she asked for a second piece of ID, my passport. That is when I knew that it was a scam.
Both times the call came through with a Rogers name and other information on the call. The woman sounded exactly the same on both calls, a young Indian person.
What is surprising is that I only got the account in December and she already had my home address and date of birth as well as knowing I was with Rogers. It seems as though someone between the company that set up my account and Rogers has been selling the information to the scammers.
Now I am wondering if they have enough information to steal something from me or bill me through the credit card I used for the Rogers' phone plan.

Anytime you receive a communication from a company by phone, email or text message, we always advise customers to proceed with caution. If unsure, ask the person to clearly document the offer on your account and provide a confirmation ID, and that way, you can reach out directly to confirm the info before proceeding any further.
We never recommend clicking on any links or providing any personal info, as in most cases, we should already have your details on file if you are an existing customer of ours.
There is also such thing as number 'spoofing', where a caller can mask their actual phone number, with another phone number. You can learn more about it here.

I just got a call for a similar deal, $45+tax for an unlimited data on my phone. I went for it.
When she asked for ID I was hesitant but she was able to verify past details of my history with Roger’s. The caller ID said Roger’s, and I also can see the order appearing on my Roger’s account, which I checked during the call.
I’ll call Roger’s myself later to confirm this is all above board, but it seems legit. Either that or it’s a very sophisticated scam and they got all my information somehow.
