Rogers SCAM

anello
I've been here awhile

I believe I was victim of a scam this Friday, in the name of Rogers.
An “agent” that had all my account information, including landline number that I never use, my address, etc…, called informing that I would have a 50% diccount for 36 months (!!), and that I would be receiving a gift - Apple Watch series 7 for free (!!! Too good to be true!)
Then sent to my email a verification code and asked me to repeat it (red flag!…)
Minutes later I received an email from Rogers (this from real Rogers) saying that my password had been changed. Since I didn’t change anything, I entered my account and reset my password.
Didn’t stop there… Received another email from the Real Rogers confirming the purchase of an iPhone 15 512Gb, pink(!!!)
I NEVER ORDERED ANY IPHONE!!! Please check and CANCEL!! HOW CAN I CANCEL THIS???

They may have had access to ALL your personal info from a prior data breach from somewhere else.  Data breaches are way too common now a days and people kind of just shrug them off as nothing, however it is far more serious than it sounds.  In all honesty, the best defence against this kind of fraud is educating the public,  The email that sends you the verification code should tell you not to disclose this code to anyone.  We should educate the public to take these notices very seriously as serious implications can happen once our accounts get compromised.

Even though your online access may have been compromised, you can still call into the customer service by telephone and see if you can cancel this order.  give that a try?

I did call Rogers and I believe the “order” was cancelled, but… now I am never sure I’m talking to the “Real Rogers” or the Scammers…
How can I double-check if the issue was solved?

Always call rogers thru their main published phone number. If someone calls you and claims to be rogers and you are somewhat skeptic, ask for an employee number or interaction ID, then hang up,  call back thru their Main published number and see if you can validate who contacted you.

I'm here a lot

It happen to me but it was a girl in Canadian Tire. Signed me up for iPhone 15 Plus. filled out the forms sized and then told I would get my phone in the mail.  Got home and felt I had given her the wrong apt. because i was moving soon.  I was told no phone was on order but that i had a new phone number. Cancelled it but was not compansaded when I did order a Iphone 15 Plus but was delivered a 15. which had to be repaired three times and i was told i would get a new on instead they sent me the same one and now for me to up grade to 15  i have pay 1160.00  they would give me 560 towards a 15 plus. which will cost 1200.  this is bad buisness.

Re: Rogers SCAM

yes i have also spoken to the Assistant to the President.  Im disable'70 year old woman. It was very difficult   to go to Yorkdale.  they don't allow scooters in the mall.  I can't prove the supervisor said I would get a new phone because not all call are recorded so the agent cant writ down anything that will insure the company is not responsable  He said I would get a new phone because my complaint was that I'm now paying full price for a refurbished (twice)  phone.  The camera still does not work properly and there are constant glitchs.  I most upseting part is that for a company that prides itself for the care of there customers. Why would they sell a 70 year services or even a phone that has more than needed. they only care about selling value not selling what the customer really needs. again bad policies
