Over 20 pieces of mail from Rogers/Fido to my address, but all Ukrainian names...

fishfreak
I've been around

Over the last 2 years I've received a lot of mail to my home address from Rogers/Fido, but all of the names were Ukrainian (eg. Rostyslav\, Denys).  It's like 20 people are using my address but none of them live here.  I used to send them back to Canada Post via Return to Sender, but I got so many of them that I started to hang on to them.

I took the pile to a Rogers store and asked them why so many people are using my address.  They couldn't do anything about it and didn't see anyone other than me using the address.  However, they didn't have the permissions to prevent this from happening.

I then emailed the Rogers Management Office about the same thing.  I got the same response, saying there was nothing I could do about other people using my address.  Their exact words were "Rogers cannot remove your address from an account that is not in your name."

This was quite concerning, so I took all the mail to the police.  They actually couldn't do anything and suggested doing everything I've already done.  While no identity theft has taken place, they said there's nothing I could do about this.

So @Rogers, I really am not housing 20+ Ukrainians in my house, so why can't I remove my address from accounts of people that actually don't live here?

Wow that is quite the shock that this is allowed to happen and nothing can be done to stop it. I am surprised.

Surely someone at Rogers Communications, perhaps their privacy officer should be able to look into this?
