Parental controls is blocking enabled apps

mirkymirk
I've been here awhile

I have enabled Parental Controls with a PIN on a TV box that is in our kids TV room. I want them to be able to access Disney+ and Netflix and have YouTube disabled. However, when launching Netflix or Disney+ from the voice command, they are prompted for the parental control pin. This is. It what I want.

I need them to be able to access limited content but these Apps have their own kids profile enabled.
When I turn off all parental controls then the apps load as expected…but then they can access any tv show or movie and watch TV in the middle of the night… which is not what I want!

Help!

Hi @mirkymirk,

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums, and thank you for your post! We certainly do understand the need to ensure that you are protecting your children from certain content. There is the option to do an application lock, where you can set up specific streaming apps to require a pin to access them. This can be done by:

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Rogers Xfinity Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Select Application Locks.
  3. Select the app(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the app will change from unlocked to locked.
  4. To unlock an app, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.

There are some other options to customize the level of content that is blocked. You can find out more information in our helpful FAQ on Parental Controls here.

Regards,

Re: Parental controls is blocking enabled apps

Hello Jermaine

Thanks for your reply. I had previously done exactly those things. The issue is that the applications that I have left unlocked are - for some reason - prompting for the Parental Control pin. It's only when I completely remove Parental Controls that the applications do not ask for a pin.
