@JJNAVY : TVs haven't worked like that in decades.  You need to have an Xfinity box which Rogers provides, connected via HDMI to the TV, or use the Xfinity app on a device like a phone or tablet and "cast" to the TV, or use the Xfinity website on a computer and connect the computer to the TV via HDMI, or recently on a Fire Stick app if the TV is so equipped.

The Box, Device, Computer or App act as the "tuner".  The TV's tuner is not used and hasn't been for many years if you subscribe via a service provider.

Hello 57,

Hello 57,

Wrong question, I have the Xfinity box hooked up properly.  I can watch all my channels using the Rogers remote.

What I want to do is watch them using the Hi-sense Remote only.

Thanks,

JJ

According to Google AI, it won't happened.

AI Overview

No, you can't use a Hisense remote to change Rogers channels because Rogers only supports its own remotes. Rogers doesn't support third-party remotes or infrared receiver extenders.

Several comments.

1. The Rogers box does receive IR signals, however, it is very finicky to set up since you need to have the remote very close to the box' IR sensor and the remote obviously needs to be able to send the correct IR signals.  However, you then lose the ability to use the Voice Commands and using the TV remote is tricky since RF is much more forgiving and the box can even be hidden.

2. Some people have set up the Rogers box using a Harmony remote and hub with the hub placed properly, right beside the box' IR sensor.  Search the forum for those terms if you're interested.  Again, Google AI is incorrect and the Rogers box can receive IR, just not very well.

3. The Rogers remote can be programmed to turn your TV on/off and adjust the TV volume. See the setup instructions in the following link:

https://www.urcsupport.com/urc_product/rogers-xr15/?product-provider=365

4. Some TVs can connect via HDMI-CEC, but that feature needs to be turned on in the TV and in the Box.  This also can be finicky and tricky and again, you lose the Voice Command feature which can be very useful.
