I know how important it is to know all of the steps required to set up your new modem. Your Rogers Gateway modem should be equipped with the EasyConnect setup. Once the Gateway is plugged into coax and power, when it comes online it should start to broadcast a Wi-Fi network called EasyConnect. You can use any Wi-Fi device to connect to that network and then follow the steps to create the network name and passphrase.
If the modem is not broadcasting the EasyConnect network you will need to Factory Reset the modem by following the steps outlined here: https://www.rogers.com/customer/support/article/factoryresetmodem.
Keep us posted if you continue to have issues after a Factory Reset.
