Hello. Just subscribed to the 5g home internet. I am remote and currently have the Ignite 50 wireless home internet. The switch seemed like a no brainer however now I read the fine print and they cap the streaming at 3Mps.(720p). This is going backwards! 1080 is minimum for home streaming.

You can probably get around this by using a VPN service.

Can confirm this is no longer an option, Rogers seems to be throttling VPN connections using the WireGuard and OpenVPN protocol as of this morning. This workaround had been working since I subscribed to the service.
Here are some of my findings. I tested this on multiple VPN clients and personal VPN servers of mine.
Test 1 - Personal VPN to a VPS using WireGuard

Test 2 - Another Personal VPN to to a VPS in Toronto

Test 3 - Using PIA Wireguard, tried various servers, here's one test.

Test 4 - Using PIA OpenVPN on port 443 using TCP

Seems as though they're only throttling download speeds. Let me know if anyone else can replicate these results.

I just got off the phone and they said the throttled speed is 10 Mbps

@trooperp3a1 : If you click on the following link, which is the main page for 5G Internet and click on Full Details at the bottom,
https://www.rogers.com/mobility/5g-home-internet
You will see:
500 GB at download speeds of 100Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10Mbps. After exceeding 500GB, download speeds of up to 10 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 2Mbps. When streaming, download speeds of up to 3 Mbps, good for videos up to 720p HD

Hi 57. Here's what I saw...."For Rogers customers that only have Home services, contact us at 1-866-586-4421 to get your 5G Home Internet plan." Yes I read the full details before calling. Maybe put the full details up front, or at least a link to the page at the top of the current page.I am just a regular consumer who probably views statements like that differently than you. My take on that, the way it is worded, is you are throttled to 3 mbps after you hit the 500 gig threshold. They might want to say something like "you will never see 100 mbps if you want to use the 500 gigs for streaming." It's only fast for checking your email!
Just so you know, I was on the phone about this so many times, that I eventually ended up speaking with an agent from the "president's office." And guess what? She wasn't aware of this either because it is not clear and it is not up front. Their advertising is deceptive. The Ignite plan I switched from was 450 gigs per month at (up to ) 25 mbps download. No throttling ever.

1. The "Full Details" are on the page for 5G Home Internet. Not sure what else you want.
2. Yes, I have learned that it's good to read the details to avoid disappointment, but that's just me. I also try to double check via another source like this forum or a web search.
3. I believe you are interpreting it the way you wanted it to be, rather than reading what's on the page.
I do agree that the way they handle streaming for this package is mediocre.
