Unlock 5g home Internet sim to use with external modem

Hi, I just got the 5g home Internet for my house in a rural area. It came with the Nokia Fastmile 3.2 gateway which is an indoor unit and I got 1 bar of LTE with 5mbs download. I bought a ZTE mc7010ca external modem so I can mounted it on the roof to get better signal but the Rogers sim card seem to be locked to the Fastmile gateway since it does pickup any signal even if I put it on my phone and climbed up the roof. Can I ask Rogers to unlock the sim or change the imei it locked to so I can use it on the external modem?

As far as I know, Rogers will not do this.  However, if your router/cellular modem will allow it, you can try cloning the Nokia FastMile's IMEI and then see if the Rogers SIM will activate.

Keep in mind that if you go this route, you are in TOTALLY unsupported territory and may even be violating your terms of service.  If you cause any problems, Rogers can and will block you from joining their network and may terminate your service.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know imei can be cloned. I gotta read the contract again to see if doing this would have any issue
