Islington & Steels (internet issues)

MeowSoft
I'm here a lot
So, apparently on Friday night (Dec. 23), a car accident took out a pole and some wires on intersection of Steels & Islington Ave. area, and that’s the reason why (apparently) majority of us don’t have the internet, TV, or phone service since. I was told: “Crews working around the clock there”, well I’m no electrician or a construction worker, but if you can’t put a new pole and reconnect wires for almost 3 full days now - you shouldn’t be ether.
And, I need to go out and buy some smokes now anyway, and I’m planning to do it on a gas station near Steels and Islington, maybe I’ll see those mysterious “crews working there around the clock” and talk to them, but I doubt anyone be there.
Almost forgot - Thank you for choosing Rogers!

I plan to stick around
I don't understand how a fibre break there affects people on the other side of the city and in random areas. They are not paying anyone OT to work on this.

No, there's more to this story.

Also my neighbourhood outage started Friday afternoon. Prior to this excuse.

Re: Islington & Steels (internet issues)

Oh, I know it’s a lie, but I still need my smokes, might as well go there and see for myself.

Re: Islington & Steels (internet issues)

Well, I’m on Islington and Steels avenue right now, parked at Esso gas station, before that I drove for about 1 kilometres in each direction N, S, W, E - haven’t seen any crews or poles being knock down.
Also asked a gas station attendant, if she heard of any accidents on Friday night - she says “no”.
Rogers plain out lying to us, but that’s no surprise.
I hate being lie to, so after the holidays I’m going with Bell, I know they a bit slower, but I just had enough of Rogers incompetence.
Merry Christmas!

Re: Islington & Steels (internet issues)

Hello, Community.

We appreciate your continued patience while we work towards restoring the services at the earliest.

The main service fibre cable got damaged at the intersection of Islington/Finch due to a vehicle accident.

Overnight on December 25th, our crews determined that the damage to the fibre was more extensive, requiring more time to complete fibre splicing. High winds have also impacted progress. Fibre splicing entails linking broken fibre strands together to restore the pathways for the data that enables connectivity to the impacted homes.

Our fibre technicians are working around the clock and are making progress on fibre splicing, which continued overnight on December 26. As this work progress, services for impacted customers are gradually being restored and some customers are coming back online.

We know how important it is to stay connected and we sincerely apologize for this service interruption over the holidays.

You can check our Service Interruptions board for updates.

Cheers,

RogersMoin
