HELP - copy/migrate/backup/import email before leaving rogers

jhhvjhvjhvihj
I've been around

We're going to be leaving Rogers soon.  We have just been using the yahoo/rogers webmail for years, so have no backup or copy of old email.    I have a gmail account I'll be using from now on, but can't get anything working to migrate my old email over to gmail.  At this point I'd settle for any form of backup/copy of my data.  Have followed countless tutorials/instructions, pop & imap servers, external mail clients, nothing works.  Most seems to be outdated.  There are also many references to some app password or something, that apparantly doesn't exist anymore?   Does ANYTHING work?  Some way, without manually forwarding thousands of email one at a time, to get my data off of rogers?  Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

I hope the following suggestions, which have all been discussed in the various app PW and e-mail threads, help.

1.  I thought that you could import e-mails using Gmail's import feature..  (You cannot bulk forward (or forward new e-mails) from Rogers/Yahoo). In Gmail - All Settings - Accounts & Import - Import Mail & Contacts.

2. You can get the latest version of Outlook (an e-mail client) for a desktop or laptop computer. It doesn't require an app PW.  In this way you could "synch" Outlook with Rogers/Yahoo and it would "import" all of the e-mails from Webmail.  The latest version of Outlook may cost a few $ to purchase or subscribe yearly.

3. You can use an app, like "Mail" on a device like a phone or tablet.  This also doesn't require an app PW and would "import" all of your e-mails from Webmail.  These latter two use IMAP and are very easy to set up - you simply start the apps/client and fill in the blanks for username and (regular Webmail) password.  Once set up, it would obviously take some time to "synch" with Webmail depending on the number of e-mails and folders, etc.  You could then backup the phone or tablet to a computer or the cloud. The cost of apps (like Mail) for devices is usually zero.

4. You may be able to  "transfer" your Webmail to a friend or relative's Rogers account (via Rogers). The friend/relative would need to be/stay on Rogers.  This would keep Webmail "active".  Obviously once it's transferred, you'd put in your own password so your friend or relative cannot view your e-mails.
