Rogers Household to Rogers Household Ping Issues - Routing Issues

Yatti420
I plan to stick around

Hello everybody,

Sad that I have to come on the forums to get a second opinion on this.. I think I have a routing issues between to rogers IP blocks.. 99x to 173x .. Doesn't seem to be functioning when I attempt to ping my secondary household both with Rogers packages..

There seems to be either a server blocking my requests (one way only) or a big routing issue on this block..

House 1 - Cisco DPC3825 Bridged to D-Link DIR-655 (rogers DNS for testing) {WAN Ping Allowed}

House 2 - Hitron CGN2-ROG Gateway/Router (rogers DNS for testing) {WAN Ping Allowed}

Pings to google/hitron from house 2..

Now I can ping from House1 to House 2 without issues.. However attempting to go from House 2 (non bridge) to House 1 (bridged) results in destination host unreachable or requests time out.. This is not the case the other way around..

 This is driving me nuts not being able to ping or connect to my secondary household.. Oddly I can access the router (dlink) at house #1 via webgui on a different port..

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my connection works one way.. But not the other.. Dissapointed to say the least.. It's been a week like this.. The only thing I could consider on my end (house 1) is debridge the cisco and try again.. 69.63.254.229 what is this? Why is is it blocking my connection to the 173x block? Yet from 173x I can ping and router 99x no issues..

Thanks in advance,
Yatti420

The craptacular category.. I will have to call in.. It all of a sudden just went up after 10 months?

Re: Rogers Household to Rogers Household Ping Issues - Routing Issues

I think those were 7.. the old hitron was 8, and the new hitron 12

$12 a month!? Seriously.. I figured out that Private WAN IP was set on the hitron at parents!? I can't really explain that one!..

I can pretty much assure Rogers unless a serious change in bandwidth caps and policy is in order that they will begin feeling the effects of just straight ripping the customer off and causing problems for them..

Teksaavy here we come when our contract is over!

The new is 12, as long as it's not bridged, it's actually an ok router, dual band, can plug in external drive. So you are paying for more features (again as long as not bridged)

Since I have the other services, I have the unlimited addon, just to not have to worry. Price wise (because of other services) is about on par with tsi's unlimited.
But agreed, the BASE data caps need to be increased to be more competitive.

But would understand if you changed. Just remember when you do, compare everything. If you have had many past general issue with Rogers say due to bad infrastructure, etc, you can have the same when using a competitor that uses the same infrastructure. (Tsi modems need to be provisioned by Rogers, etc). So make sure to do all your comparisons, reviews, etc for your area in specific.
