I have a Oneplus 6T which is 4G LTE/Volte compatible based on specs. The phone was given to me a few years ago by my daughter in law when she upgraded hers. Fido took the SIM Card from a much older Sky phone and put it in this phone (SIM slot 2). I only have a talk/text plan with Fido, but can use my home internet or free internet when out in a public setting that offers free wifi. Fido/Rogers are dropping 3G networks July 31, 2025 and I have been notified/emailed/voice mail before placing a phone call that my phone will no longer work after that date, that my phone is supposedly NOT 4G Volte compatible?? I checked the IMEI numbers on the Rogers site for compatibility and both numbers on the phone are supposedly NOT compatible. Under the phone settings, 2G/3G/4G has a checkmark/is automatically set. There is no setting for Volte. When I check for system updates for the phone, it says I am 'up to date'. As a senior, I find this is incredibly frustrating as I have no idea what's wrong, don't want to invest in a new phone. Is it possible that the SIM card is 3G only? How would I know? Or possible that Fido won't support this Phone (Fido doesn't carry it) when they switch to 4G even if the phone does support 4G? Help! (And yes I phoned Fido/Rogers technical support/was only told maybe switching from SIM2 to SIM1 would help. As a senior, I would prefer Fido this, but not sure it will help since the SIM 1 slot's IMEI is also not supported based on Roger's online compatibility check)

When 4G(LTE) phones that do not support VOLTE make a phone call, they drop down to 3G network to complete the call, When 3G network shuts down, the phone will fail to make and receive calls, and will not work.
Rogers will refuse to whitelist these phones to add to their network because they do not officially sell this model.
I am sorry but that is the explanation why you will have trouble with this model.

What Pauly said, is correct. Your device is VoLTE compatible but Rogers and all Canadian carriers have moved to not allowing devices that they don't sell to access features like VoLTE, VoWiFi, and VoNR. My OnePlus 8T worked for years until this change on Rogers and Telus.
Edit: Just to add a bit of context. Just because a device says it is compatible with VoLTE, doesn't mean it is compatible with all carriers VoLTE. There are 3 implementations of VoLTE used around the world by many different carriers and no universal standard. They are not compatible with each other! However, OnePlus devices used to support all North American carrier VoLTE standards before being assimilated into OPPO, which was long after the 6 series, 7 series 8 series, and 9 series. Incompatible VoLTE devices are usually Asian and India devices, even if they are labeled as global, because thise carriers do not support the implementations used in North Anerica.

Thank you for telling me this. SHAME on Rogers technical support for not telling me this. I guess now I have to give in and get a new phone.

And thank you as well for your information. As I said in my previous post to another reply is SHAME on Rogers technical support for not telling me this. Guess I have to give in and get a new phone.

Hey JK9991,
Try this before you buy a new phone. It's a little technical, but it worked! I have the same issues with Fido who is dropping the 3G at the end of July. First off you have to make sure that you phone has VoLTE campatability. If not, you'll need a new phone. If it is, you'll need a SIM Card that is VoLTE compatible. Rogers/FIDO Tech support should be able to tell you this from the info thay have on file. I had a sim card from 2017 which was not VoLTE and swapped it out for a new one that was.
You will have to check for VoLTE to be provisioned and IMS registered on your phone.
Check by dialing *#*#4636#*#*. Select the the Phone that has your SIM card (Mine says Phone Info 1 or Phone Info 2). Check if your VoLTE is provisioned (If you do not have this option, then your phone is not VoLTE compatible and you'll need a new phone). If you do see this option and it is on (but greyed out), you phone is VoLTE compatible. If your VoLTE option is off, go to your dialer and dial *#*#86583#*#* and make sure the message you get is along the lines of "Carrier Check is diabled". This enables VoLTE and you should get the option in your SIM card menu (in setting along the lines of - SIM Card and Mobile Networks).
Next you'll have to use the three dot and check if your IMS is registered (IMS Service Status). If it's not, it should say that VoLTE is diable or not available.
OK, here comes the technical part that worked for me. You have to activate the "Developer option" and turn on USB debugging option. After this, my IMS was registed and my VoLTE was activated. I then turned off USB Debugging and the VOLTE option stayed.
Last note, my phone is not a Fido phone or a Canadian carrier phone. It's an import along the lines of a OnePlus. As for having to have your IMEI provisioned for VoLTE to work, that's not necessarily true. For years, I thought that was the case but I finally spoke to a really experienced Rogers/Fido tech told me that only the SIM card need to be provisioned for VoLTE. If you have a major brand Canadian phone, you should have no problems, for a foreign phone, with a little fiddling it might work - like mine.
Hope this help you and everyone whose been searching for a possible solution.
