😾I may be known as "The Cat Lady" by my friends BUT - I am not an "IDIOT". On November 1 this year, I happened to be in the city and came upon a Rogers store; thought I'd take a chance and see if I could get a new screen for my cell phone from them (quite a content Bell customer at the time). The Sales guy is possibly the best sales person I have ever come across - offered me a "VERY special package deal for just under $100 per month" for my mobile, my son's mobile and our landline ....... PLUS ..... PLUS (Wait For THIS!) ..... ONLY FOR THAT ONE DAY - apparently my lucky day - they were offering a new trade-in phone with ZERO CHARGE for new customers signing a new contract with Rogers. Tell me honestly - could you really refuse an offer like that ?? OK, very happy I came home with the new sim card for my son's phone and he was equally amazed at this happy bonus for us (I'm a widow on a small fixed income). Imagine my horror when I received my first month's bill three weeks later for $568.31 Upon querying this immediately, thinking they had made a considerable error, I was told quite bluntly that I had signed this agreement and that was what I owed Rogers; in fact the new "GRATIS" phone was being billed at $2,000 payable over 12 months. I had paid the first month upfront on the same day, November 1 for $124.31 with my debit card. I NEVER SIGNED ANY monthly deductible from my bank YET, ROGERS somehow traced by banking details and AGAIN, WITHOUT ANY AUTHORISATION FROM ME, charged my account with the ridiculous billing amount of $568.31 - ok, so do the math - I had already paid $124.31 up-front on 1 Nov, then 3 weeks later they grabbed another $568.31 from my banking account which makes my first month's payment $692.62. When I categorically stated to them after they had ripped the funds from my banking account that I would NOT be paying this, they immediately cut my so-called service on all the phones without any further notice. I very humbly went back to Bell with a rather red face but they were wonderful and right away changed my phone numbers. Rogers have since, in the past 3 days, traced my new numbers and have managed -only The Creator knows HOW ¿¿?? - to block those numbers as well.
Do NOT mess with old people, especially The Cat Lady.
Blessings for 2025 ..... Lisa Benedix

Good morning @LisaCat!
My name is Corey and I would like to investigate this matter for you. I completely understand that it would be shocking to receive such a large bill if you were told the phone was free.
You having pre-approved billing setup when you say you never signed up for it is also very strange. We have absolutely no way of getting your banking info to setup pre-approved billing unless it is explicitly provided to us by the customer so we'll need to investigate that matter thoroughly too.
We'd be happy to take a closer look to see what is going on! Please feel free to send a private message to @CommunityHelps so we can assist you further. For more information on how our Private Messaging system works, you can find out more here.
