On February 10, 2025, MyRogers’ manual payment system evidently and fraudulently copied my debit card details which they used to illegally process a duplicate transaction of $94 23 minutes after I made just the one authorized payment of $94 in their manual payment system. I discovered this illegal fraud/error/theft today a couple days later. I proceeded to call my bank which confirmed that the second/duplicate transaction was made my Rogers, not me and processed as a recurring charge taken from my account by a merchant who had me set up for recurring payments even though as shown in MyRogers account portal and from calling Rogers, I DO NOT HAVE ANY AUTO DEBIT/PRE AUTHORIZED DEBIT SET UP WITH THEM. I’ve been a Rogers customer for over 2 years.
Yet, when i called Rogers to demand an explanation for this unauthorized transaction and request a refund, they and their fraudulent/erroneous system are trying to gaslight me with the customer service reps saying that the system shows I processed both transactions myself and that they do not have the ability to store my card info unless I'm signed up for auto debit which i am not. They said i may or may not get my money back within 6 days pending investigation.
I do not tolerate being stolen from then trying to gaslight me on top, nonsensically lying that I’m the one responsible for their illegal fraudulent activity. Consequently i have opened a dispute investigation with BMO my bank, and as suggested by my bank, am opening a case with the Government of Canada/Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre to expose Rogers as the thieving fraudsters they are, am switching to a different provider (Bell) ASAP by this Friday, and intend to pursue legal action against Rogers. It’s as much a matter of principle as the money which isn't the most huge amount. Spent nearly 4 hours of my life on the phone today responding to this issue created by these thieves who wont even take accountability for their screw up and wasting my personal time i could have spent productively. Avoid these despicable thieves at all costs, switch to a provider (hopefully there are) you can trust not to illegally copy your financial info and steal from you. Never again; I'm absolutely infuriated, disgusted, and done with this huge fraud company that mind you makes way more than enough money to be resorting to blatantly stealing their customer’s hard earned money. Utter breach/violation of theft and fraud laws and i don't intend to rest until they are held accountable. Please fellow customers out there, note if you or anyone you know has also experienced this so can help put an end to it and they don't keep getting away with such, thanks.
