Beware of Rogers… Worst experience ever!!!!

akosimin
I've been around

Where should I begin…. I went to the US because of an illness in the family, but few weeks prior, I spoke with Rogers agent to confirm LD charges, I was informed that it was included in my plan and that I should only have my roaming charges. This was a very stressful event in my life and trusted Rogers agent .

A family member passed away and when I came home, I received the roaming charges along with the LD cost over $400. I called Rogers and spoke to a nice agent and he sympathized with my plea, and told me that he will put me on hold and speak to management. After being on hold for 1.15 hours and while I’m at work; the agent came back and told me that management denied my request to help reduce the charges. Take note that it already cost me a lot to fly on a last minute notice and to come home with this bill is appalling. Money is tight but I decided to pay the bill and to cancel my plan as I was not happy with Rogers service and their unyielding decision.

I went into Rogers website and made a complaint; few days later someone named Jim (I believe that’s his name) called me from the president’s office, he sounded sympathetic after he heard my issues. He said that if he would have contacted me earlier prior to me paying the bill, that he might be able to help. What a bogus!!

Anyway, the following billing cycle I received another bill of $1,300+, because I decided to cancel Rogers plan. I’m not an unreasonable person and I understand that I have to pay the remaining balance on my phone, but the additional $600+ for the service plan in which they did not provide is unreasonable. So I made another complaint and few days later I received a voicemail from someone from the office of the president AGAIN; they left a number for me to call them back but did not leave their extension number, therefore my call was connected… what a joke!!!

For Rogers to bring their business here in the West because they know that there’s not many competition here and buying Shaw company was a very GREEDY move! It’s ok to bring your business here; but make sure to provide a better customer service too.

Anyway, once again I paid the remaining balance and I swear to myself that I will never let any of my family and friends use them either. Rogers is a coveting selfish company. They are a nightmare to deal with. You would think that they can at least help someone, specially in times like these with inflation and everything else that is happening.

@akosimin : I'm sorry for your loss:  I do have a few comments that may help in the future.

1. If you have/had Roam like Home on your phone, then the charge is $15/day.  Not sure how many days you were away. Here's a post on how to avoid RLH charges.  It's similar for all providers, so leaving Rogers may not help you.

2. Most Airlines have Bereavement fares, but they have restrictions and are probably not retroactive...  Sample Below:

https://www.westjet.com/en-ca/flights/bereavement (Westjet seems to allow retroactive)
