Legitimate Email?

birdistheword
I've been around

Received a strange email from the "Office Of The President"

RogersCommunicationsOfficeofthePresident@rci.rogers.com

Is this for real? The message states they were "sorry they were unable to reach me"...as if leaving a voicemail.

The phone number that was left for a call back belongs to Cigna, a global health service company. The number is typically used for customer service and support inquiries related to health insurance plans and services provided by Cigna.

All a bit strange.

Hello, @birdistheword.

We're thrilled you joined our Community, and thank you for your query.

I appreciate you being vigilant; it does sound unusual to receive an email from the "Office Of The President" with a phone number belonging to a health service company. Email spoofing is used in scams and phishing attacks to deceive people into believing the message came from a known or trusted source.

You can learn more about such a phishing tactic in this article. Please forward the email to abuse@rogers.com and include a brief description of the issue; copy and paste the full email headers above the body of the forwarded email.

Thank you for raising awareness of such scams.

Cheers,

RogersMoin
