Increase in Spam SMS and Robocalls Since Porting Over

uniqueusername
I plan to stick around

I already know about forwarding SPAM text to "SPAM" it is the same on several carriers, however the robo calls are really bugging me.

I can't just whitelist by my contacts as I do get some random important calls. I had a feature called Call Control that blocked almost 100% of the robo calls before I ported to Rogers.. Are there NO tools from rogers for dealing with spam SMS and robo calls?

Greetings @uniqueusername,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that you are receiving these types of unwanted calls. I’ve personally received them myself and I know how annoying they can get.

Rogers uses sophisticated anti-spam software in our network to protect you from spammers. The software has advanced threat detection algorithms to constantly hunt for and identify suspicious activity.

We also have a dedicated team who monitors and detect mobile messaging threats and creates configurations to block current/new issues in real-time.

I would recommend that you register to CRTC’s Do Not Call List through this link https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca or call their toll-free 1-866-580-DNCL (1-866-580-3625).

For spam related calls, you can report these to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre here:

• Telephone: ◦ 1-888-495-8501
• Fax: ◦ 1-888-654-9426
• Website: ◦ http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/

Hope this Helps!

Cheers,
RogersRahul

Hours after porting I received two BMO phishing text in  I received 3 faud texts.

1. A rogers outage credit scam (really surprised you guys can't catch this one)

2. Two BMO bank scams

That is more than I have received in months on the previous carrier. I don't think it is that sophisticated.

Also as noted the previous carrier had a feature called Call Control that let me block / challenge callers with a passcode and almost completely eliminated robo calls.

This number has been ported a few times it has been on the Do Not Call list since it was created. That list only slows down legitimate marketers not scammers.

If the other carrier comes back with a win back offer I might take it at this rate. This is notably worse service and it has only been 4 days.. I really hate the robocalls and SPAM texts.

Supposedly Rogers also has a NAME Display feature as part of caller ID that is supposed to flag suspect scams? Is that enabled by default or do I need to call in to get that activated?
