Hi everyone, in nov, i got charged on my visa card for amount around 199 cad under name rogers . I wasnt sure if it belongs to my rogers account or not i called them they said they dont have any idea about such payment and they cant even trace its for actual rogers or not. I called immediately my bank and reported it.
Got new card.
After few days my other card got kinda same charges for amount 350 same thing again called rogers no response , blocked the card got new one.
I discuss it with my 5 friends and got to know 2 of them had same cases just different amounts. I did nothing.
Now in jan within 3 days , my 2 diff cards ,visa and mc ,have same issues around amount 200-300 .
I cant find anyone else talking about this so im starting this forum, you can share your experience . Want to check if it’s happening all over canada or not.
Or where should i report this ?
Is Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre right place?
Or police?

The way this is usually handled is through the Credit Card companies. If the charges are not yours and if it's fraud, it's under the card companies' purview to resolve.  I don't believe you need to do anything more than report it to the CC companies.

If, on the other hand, this is some sort of real charge from Rogers, you'd need to take it up with Rogers, but they would be aware of those charges, which you say they are not.

Ys but im tired of calling card companies explaining same issue over over and getting new card every other month then changing all the payments method again n again.

Re: Fraud charges on cards under name rogers

Greetings @Kirpagiver.

The fact that multiple replacement cards from different providers are getting these mystery charges is the biggest cause for concern. I suspect your devices may be compromised and infected with malware that is allowing someone to steal your information.

Are you storing your credit card data on a phone, device, apps, browser, etc? If so, I would highly recommend that you change your passwords from a known secure device and run anti-malware software on all your computers and devices to ensure they are safe and secure.

Please let us know so I can advise you accordingly if you are not storing your credit card data some place where it could potentially be accessed online.

Regards,

RogersCorey

Hi, have you resolved this case yet? I have same nightmare with Rogers and their so called Fraud Dept is not doing anything. They closed my case without even reaching out to us. We dealt with police, banks, CAFC and just filed a report to CCTS. Do you mind giving us update on this? I am very frustrated with Rogers and all their lies.

I've been around

I have just experienced the very same issue. There are two fraudulent charges on my CC from Rogers : one for $199 and another for $266 ( approximate values with pennies). I called Rogers they did not help me but I did call my CC fraud department and they subsequently opened investigation. Now I am waiting on the results.

I was charged 558 with an account number that does not belong to me. I called rogers and they are a joke. They cannot help me because i do not have the other numbers that the account belongs too. I called TD Visa and they started an investigation 20 days ago and sill did not refund me the money. They escalated it up to their "resolution team" and will respond again up to 3-7 days. I am being passed around . This is FRAUD and Rogers and TD Visa seem to not care. I will keep everyone posted after the 7th day.  I WILL CANCEL ALL ROGERS ACCOUNTS including my BUSINESS ACCOUNT and my TD Visa if neither one of them will do anything about it.

Re: Fraud charges on cards under name rogers

Good evening @Lenny4,

Welcome to the Community!

I completely understand why you'd be frustrated in this situation, also I realize $558 is a rather significant account. Please know that unless an account was fraudulently opened under your name and info, it would be next to impossible for us to locate an account using just the last 3 or 4 digits of the number, especially if there is no other identifying information available.

Not to make it sound like we're passing the buck, but your bank is indeed equipped to deal with this better than us. The bank should be able to see which account the funds went to and as far as I am aware, banks also have processes in place to recover these funds.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

I'm a reliable contributor

I had that happening to me once and it was actually a typo. Someone paid their bill through Rogers' website but made a typo while entering their credit card number. Who was the lucky winner? Yours truly.. TD Visa investigated and that's what they reported to me. They saw what Rogers account it went to, which wasn't mine (said investigation took around 30 days to complete).

Exact same thing happened to me.  Fraudulent charge of over $1,000 on one of my credit cards, which I cancelled and got a new one, and then later my Visa had a similar Rogers fraudulent charge for around $170.   It is weird that both times it was Rogers fraudulent charges.

Re: Fraud charges on cards under name rogers

The problem with replacing a credit card is that it doesn't end up deleting the list of companies that you have a history of dealing with.  The end result is that even if you haven't notified a company of the replacement card, you can still end up with a charge on the new card.  With some companies, you will see the charge on the new card, with other companies they will pick up on the fact that a new card has been issued, with a number that they do not have.  Don't know why that situation exists.  In any event, when you replace your existing card with a new card you have to ask the credit card rep, that you're speaking with, to delete the entire history of companies that regularly post charges to your card.  That should prevent someone from posting charges to the card without your authorization.  You would have to notify all of the companies that you transact with, of the new card number.

Now, if you do that and still end up with unauthorized charges on the account, that points to a data leak, either on your phone or pc/laptop, depending on what you use to pay bills with, or, due to a leak from Rogers itself or one of its authorized companies who sell services on behalf of Rogers.  You would have to run antivirus / malware sweeps on your own equipment to determine if they have been hacked.
