Cobra 5g Xteam: How to split bands to have 2 separate wifi networks for 5g and 2.4g.

I've been around

For devices, such as smart lights, which can only work on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection, you’ll need to configure your Cobra 5G Xtreme MGA5331 router to broadcast separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Here’s how you can do this:

1. Open a web browser and enter your router’s IP address into the address bar. This is often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

2. Log in with your administrator username and password. If you haven’t changed these, the default credentials are typically found on a label on the router or in the user manual.

3. Scroll down to the Wireless Settings:
You must be logged in to see the logo beside the wireless settings title (click/tap the Left side for the logo to appear).

4. Turn on Split.
“Split” is currently set to “Off”, you need to turn it “On” to separate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

5. You should see options for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. If not, go to the NaviGate Comp app or Vanita app and ensure 2.4g and 5g are enabled (click more, wifi networks and enable each one).

6. Assign distinct names to each band to differentiate them. For example, you might name the 2.4 GHz network “Home_WiFi_2.4G” and the 5 GHz networks.

7. Save and Apply Changes.
After configuring the settings, save or apply the changes. Your router may restart to implement the new settings. Turn off your wifi on your devices and turn it back on.

8. Connect your phone, tablet or computer to the newly named 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

9. Connect Your Device (e.g Smart Lights to the separate 2.4 GHz Network in your wifi list).

By separating the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands into distinct networks, you ensure that your device (e.g smart lights) can connect to the appropriate frequency without interference from devices operating on the 5 GHz band.
