Poor MFA Options

I've been around

How does Canada's largest mobile network operator not provide the option for its customers to protect their account using software-based token authentication? Either VIA a 3rd party authenticating application of the customer's choice, or Roger Xfinity's own mobile apps. Instead, there's only email or SMS based authentication.

Unacceptable considering someone's mobile phone account is often used as a means to further authenticate and gain access to other online services and accounts, so if it were ever to be compromised, it may impact all other accounts the user may have linked.

Not even advocating for hardware-based authentication methods, or biometrics, but in 2025, software-based is the minimum necessity. To be clear not suggesting it should be the default either, just an option, or even a backup option.

Options are definitely good. Personally, I wouldn't use an authenticator app but if others want that option but if others would. Hopefully Rogers implements that as an option for those who want to use it.

Rogers and all Canadian operatirs could definitely do better when it comes to security and privacy. Unfortunately, if a skilled enough hacker wants whatever it is they are after. They will find a way to get it regardless of what security measures are in place.
