AppleCare+ or Rogers premium protection plan?

I just got a new iPhone 12 Pro and decided to get the premium protection plan with it. But now I’m looking at AppleCare and wondering if I should just get that instead ?
From what I understand, AppleCare will only charge 100 something for accidental damages whereas the Rogers one will charge 400$... I’m referring to damages besides a broken screen.
can someone tell me if I’m completely misunderstanding something?
