ALERT - Christmas Promo Scam - December 2024

heronfree
I've been around
I almost got taken by a new Roger’s promo scam. Everyone should be aware it as I almost signed up.

They call say they are doing a promo for existing customers at $50 for 2.5 gbps. Seems like something Roger’s might do.

Be aware that they prey on you wanting to save some money at Christmas and they make the offer seem reasonable. Then they try to transfer you to the ‘audit’ dept.

If you get sucked in. Say I need to confirm this is not a scam. And will contact Roger’s to proceed, they say that’s fine. And should not longer contact you.

Number comes from 437 numbers

+1 (437) 577-0494

And then they gave a 1-833 number to call back.

1-833-559-1520

Amazed out how far I got pulled in because I’m quite aware but they are saying the right things to techie guys so be careful out there.

This is the promo they emailed me:

Thank you for your interest!

I've been here awhile
416-367-4589 was the number that must called me. Guys name was Micheal with an indian accent. His supervisor was really trying hard to sound southern American lol.

Offer was $40 for internet, contract buy-out, free modem. They knew my internet speed but didn't have my account number. I told them to please call me back on Monday around 2pm as I will find my Rogers info for them.

He wasn't impressed or happy.

Why isn't Rogers sending out a mass message to their customers warning of this like they do when you don't pay your bill or have a special offer?
