Today marks the start of the NBA All-Star Weekend events. Taking place this year in Indianapolis, Indiana, it will go until February 18th, concluding with the 73rd NBA all-star game. Here is the list of events to expect starting today until Sunday:
Ruffles All-Star Celebrity Game
Starting at 7 p.m. ET tonight, we will see a mixture of celebrities, athletes, entertainers, and influencers compete in a fun and friendly game. This year it will be Team Stephen A vs. Team Shannon Sharpe, who will respectively coach their team alongside some other big-name celebrities.
Panini Rising Stars
Following the celebrity game, the NBA’s top rookies and sophomores, as well as some players from the G League, will face off in a two-game tournament. They will be grouped into four teams that will be coached by basketball legends Pau Gasol, Jalen Rose, Tamika Jennings, and Detlef Schrempf.
NBA HBCU Classic 2024 Presented by AT&T
Saturday will kick off by celebrating the rich history and culture of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) by hosting the NBA HBCU Classic 2024. The game will feature two of the top HBCU basketball teams: Virginia Union and Winston-Salem State. There will also be a moment to honor the legacy and achievements of HBCU alumni and students and raise awareness for HBCU causes and initiatives.
State Farm All-Star Saturday Night
The most anticipated night of the weekend will feature three familiar contests and one special competition that will showcase the NBA’s best skills, shooters, and dunkers. The night kicks off with the Kia Skills Challenge, where players will compete in an obstacle course that tests their dribbling, passing, and shooting abilities. Next is the Starry 3-Point Contest, pitting the NBA’s best shooters against each other in a race to make the most shots from beyond the arc. Then, the Stephen vs. Sabrina 3-Point Challenge! A special showdown between two of the greatest shooters of our time, Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu. Then, to cap off the night, we have the AT&T Slam Dunk Contest, which will crown the NBA’s best dunker.
73rd NBA All-Star Game
The main event of the weekend will be the 73rd NBA All-Star Game, where the East, led by Team Captain Giannis, and the West, led by Team Captain Lebron, will battle for bragging rights. A return this year to the traditional East vs. West format and also to the regular scoring system. The game will feature the NBA’s biggest stars voted in by fans, players, and media, and we will also see some of the NBA’s legends and heroes honored.
