Acer Android - Deleting Emails

When deleting an email, the same email is returned as a new email in my in box shortly after being completely deleted from the phone. What needs to be done to fix this.

gmail or email?

(I'm assuming email)

If you want to delete the message permanently;
Goto the settings menu while in the email app (bottom left button, the three lines)
Choose account settings
Scroll down to "Incoming Settings"
Scroll down to "Delete email from Server"
and select "When I delete from Inbox"
