With Ignite HomeConnectTM, you can control WiFi access by pausing individual devices or user profiles.

Ignite HomeConnect is available exclusively for Rogers Internet customers with the Ignite WiFi Gateway modem. Not sure if this is your modem? Check under “Internet” on your MyRogers account.

Pausing access for individual devices

Pausing a device blocks it from accessing the internet when connected to your home network.

  1. Open Ignite HomeConnect sign in using your MyRogers username and password.
  2. Select Connect.
  3. Select the device you want to pause.
  4. Select Pause Device. From here, you can either pause access for a specified amount of time (i.e. 30 minutes, one hour or two hours) or indefinitely until you choose to unpause it.

To unpause a device, follow steps 1 to 3 above, then select Unpause Device.

Note: The steps above will not work for an Ignite Entertainment Box, so your service is not interrupted.

Pausing access for user profiles

You can also pause access for entire user profiles – meaning that all of the devices assigned to the profile will be blocked from accessing the internet over your home WiFi network.

  1. Open Ignite HomeConnect sign in using your MyRogers username and password.
  2. Select People.
  3. Select the user profile you would like to pause.
  4. Select Pause All Devices.
  5. You can either pause access for a specified amount of time (i.e. 30 minutes, one hour or two hours) or indefinitely until you choose to unpause the user profile.

To unpause a user profile, follow steps 1 to 3 above, then select Unpause All Devices.

You can also set Active Time Limits to automatically pause home internet access for the devices assigned to a user profile.  Learn more here.

Note: If your profile includes Ignite Entertainment boxes, they cannot be paused using these controls, so your service is not interrupted.

What access is blocked by the “Pause” function?

The Pause function only blocks access to the internet when connected to your home WiFi network. If a user tries to access the internet on a paused device, a message will display saying that the content cannot be reached or that the internet is down.

Considerations to keep in mind:

  • Pausing a device may not immediately disrupt activity already in progress on that device.
  • The Pause function does not block the following:
    • Internet access for a device using cellular data (i.e. LTE).
    • Internet access when connected to a public WiFi hotspot or WiFi network other than your Ignite WiFi network.
    • Access to other devices connected to your home WiFi network, such as a network printer.
