Rogers and Shaw merger, account name problems

AlxH
I've been here awhile

We have a Shaw internet account in my husband's name and Rogers mobility accounts in my name. I am wanting to renew my internet plan and I am unable to do so with a discount for having multiple products, as the account names are different. Shaw internet is saying we cannot change the main account name. Rogers, after many no's have said that we can change the account name, but it is a process and I have to pay $75. Is there any way to sort this out as I have wasted hours on this and don't want to believe there is no simple solution? Help!

Hi @AlxH,

Welcome to the Community!

Yes there is an administrative fee to transfer the ownership of an account to another individual. We can only make changes to the Rogers accounts at this time.

Please let us know if you'd like us to help you with the transfer of responsibility.

Best regards,

if your residential internet account does not have any contract or agreement term on it, why not just cancel it and open a new account under your name?

Contract is up in May and I think that's my only option. Investigating other providers though, as the lack of ability to do something so simple due to their merger is infuriating

I hear you, it can be frustrating.  I have never heard of this policy to charge an administrative fee to transfer the ownership of an account to someone else's name, however policy is policy and that will affect how they do business with customers.
