Our Toronto Blue Jays will play their home opener in the newly renovated Rogers Center tonight against the Detroit Tigers. Winning their last 2 series against the Royals and the Angels, the Jays will look to continue their winning ways at home in this 3-game series. Be sure to check out the renovations and some of the new additions to the stadium here!
As with most home openers, we have a few of our players that will be presented with the awards that were won at the end of last season. First, we will have former Blue Jays first baseman and recent Hall of Fame inductee Fred McGriff will throw out the ceremonial first pitch tonight. Then our catcher Alejandro Kirk will receive the Silver Slugger award, our relief pitcher Jordan Romano will be presented with the Tip O’Neil Award, and our rising superstar first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be presented with his 2022 Gold Glove award.
Tomorrow’s game will also be the first Blue Jays bobblehead giveaway of the season. It will be of none other than “Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Gold Glove Bobblehead”. Tickets may still be available for these games; you can check the MLB website here if you are looking to go to one of these or any game this season.
After this series, the Jays will be facing their division rivals, the Tampa Bay Rays, at home this Friday.
