How do I know if my SIM supports NFC?

This the first I have heard of a SIM card requirement for NFC.  I always thought it was more a networking protocol, some hardware and software.

I recently upgraded my SIM card so my android handset can take advantage of the expanded LTE network.  How do we know if the SIM Card supports NFC?

Rogers will be selling NFC Sim Cards. Those Sim cards will be able to be used with the Rogers Mobile Waller NFC. Other NFC can be just used with the phone.

That is correct. Rogers has its OWN NFC Sim Card that they will be selling in the near future for their own NFC wallet.

Why go down the path of using specific NFC SIMs and apps when you could work on a deal to partner with Google Wallet?  I don't understand this approach at all.

Would the same be happening if Apple's Passbook started to support NFC?
