What does "Access your data from Canada+US" mean?

werdnagreb
I'm here a lot

On my new account that has just been ported from shaw, I see the included feature "Access your data from Canada+US". What does this mean? Does this mean I can do roaming in the US using my Canadian data plan?

I plan to stick around

Just been chatting to a Rogers, 'Shaw Specialist' & they confirmed that we have use in the US. (ignore the first part of their answer, that was another question)

OK but I have USA included in my plan don't I?

Yes, as I mentioned thats just an example, I can confirm your plan works in both Can & USA outside of that would be roaming

I now wonder about 'Unlimited International Text, Picture and Video Messages', does this mean free texts when roaming? It does say International.

It means you won't be roaming while using data in the US.

Re: What does "Access your data from Canada+US" mean?

I appreciate your response, but I am hoping I can get confirmation of this from someone working at Rogers since if there's some confusion or misunderstanding, then it could be costly for me.

Why not call Customer Care and ask? Usually roaming in the US is available to all under the Ro Like Home mess. For the cost of a single days use in the US, you could almost pay for the add US usage to your plan for $15 a month.

Re: What does "Access your data from Canada+US" mean?

I just did and they said that "Access your data from Canada+US" just means that when you are in the US, you are roaming. So, it means nothing.

We travel to the US occasionally. When we were with Shaw, we could just pay $15 for 2GB for a 30 days (or something like that), which suited us just fine. It doesn't look like Rogers has something like that.

Just to answer my own question. I spoke with customer service and they told me that all it means is that "Roam like home" is available in the US. So, basically, it is meaningless.

Yup  Welcome to Rogers

Hello @Tiger955 ,

That's a good question! If your plan states that it covers 'Unlimited International text, picture and video messages', then this means you can text to international phone numbers while in Canada, and it's covered by your plan. It does not cover you while roaming internationally.

I hope this helps clarify!

Kind regards,

RogersYasmine

Re: What does "Access your data from Canada+US" mean?

Just spoke with an agent. Unlimited International Text, Picture and Video Messages would mean that I can do this from Canada and the US on my plan. But not vice versa - if in Europe for example, I can't text to Canada or US without Rogers roaming plan. They also confirmed that on my Canada-US plan, I will be able to access my data and everything else without additional roaming fees. Will test this, this upcoming March.

Yep! I have a Can-US plan and I can use everything included in my plan, regardless of where I am in Canada or the US, with no additional cost.

Well, I had "Roam nothing like Home" turned off by Rogers Monopoly before I went to Mexico & had phone in Airplane Mode except to send a couple of texts. Just got my bill expecting $0.75 for each one, nothing!

The bill shows:

Text Msg   Canada & Roaming - Received       31 msgs
Within Canada - Included - Sent       9 msgs

Total Usage = $0.0

They don't seem to have a clue what they are doing!
