Hello Community!

It's RogersCorey here to present another blog, hot off the presses!

Now that the rollout of iOS 15 is well underway, I'd love to talk about it and some of the features that have changed the iOS experience for me.

Have you updated yet or are you behind on your OS updates? If so, read on and let me help you gently off the fence. The grass is greener on this side. 🙂

This feature rich update has too much to talk about in just one blog post, so we'll focus on some key features that I think are important. If you're the TLDR type and would like to just skip to the good stuff, you can follow this official link to find a full list of all the new features: https://www.apple.com/ca/ios/ios-15/features/

Safari and Tabs

This was the first thing that really jumped out at me. The search and URL bar has been moved to the bottom of the screen. Tabs appear as cards if you swipe up from the bottom bar. Swiping left or right on the bottom bar will allow you to navigate through them.

Though it seems like a small thing, this is a big change and it took me a little bit of time to adjust due to muscle memory but now that I no longer have to stretch to reach all the way to the top of the screen, the device feels more stable in my hands.

Overall, this one change will make your browsing experience a lot more intuitive.

Privacy

We here at Rogers always have our customers security in mind, so the new privacy features were high on my priority list to check out.

With iOS 15, developers can allow you to securely paste content from one app to another without granting them access to what you've copied until you want them to have access.

It might not be something you think about but pasting from one app to another can be a privacy risk. Be aware and update to iOS 15 so you can be better armed against data theft.

Passwords

iOS 15 comes standard with its own built-in authenticator app. If you haven't started using an authenticator to protect your important accounts, now's the time! If you're using a third party authenticator, you may want to consider switching if you're not 100% confident in the security it provides.

Settings

If you're still not convinced, worry not! iOS may now offer a choice between two software update versions in the Settings app. You can continue using your device with iOS 14 while still receiving important security updates in this way. If you haven't updated in some time and are still hesitant to update OS versions, I encourage you to at least download the security updates.

And that's it from me! What do you think? Is there any cool new features that really speak to you? Post a comment below and let me know! 🙂
