Hi Community,
On December 15, 2015, I let everyone know that we had started to roll out the updated Navigatr guide. Take a look here for that post.
As we continue to roll out the update, customers will be notified ahead of time that they will be getting the new software.
If you have received the updated Navigatr software (i.e. since December 15, 2015) and would like to ask a question and/or share your findings/learnings, please do so in THIS THREAD.
As always, the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use apply.
Thanks very much for keeping the community a pleasant place to be!

Brampton 10am.
Turned on THE PVR this morning and it went into REBOOT!
First reboot of the day, did this 7 times yesterday.
When this reboot copleted we got the WELCOME TO YOUR NEW NAVIGATR screen!
Pushed through all the propaganda about the second coming of NAVIGATR, and discovered
all our recordings had been erased! Many hours all lost!
Will test PVR today and see if has stopped continually rebooting.

Well a further development to my previous posting!
My PVR functioned for 30 minutes, and rebooted.
This time it took off to reboot heaven!
It never returned, After trying all the known tricks to
Bring it back to life, I decided it was time to visit the local
ROGERS store.
They were very efficient and placed me in the line up for
Attention. There were 4 others in line clutching NB3s, all had
Similar stories.
I asked the guy who served me if they had many returns, and he
Raised his eyes in a way that conveyed everything
He confirmed that things are going to happen in January.
I never received any warnings that anything was about happen,
Just the usual total silence from Rogers.
The replacement box has functioned for about 30 min so far.
Just to confirm we lost everything, back down to zero recordings.

so i just got the jan 2016 roll out of navigator and find some serious inconvienances...
i liked it when i pressed guide or favs and got either guide or favs depending on the button AND when i pressed it again (either guide or favs) I got the other one. in other words i could toggle to guide or favs by simply pressing a second time on the button.
now favs is the defaults in either guide or favs and to get to something else i have to go to C button and select filter channel option to get a 1 time choice of subscribed. once i get back to the tv screen, guide shows subscribed. but if u dare go to favs again, then guide the guide screen redefaults to the fav from subscribed arrgh

I discovered a kludge to the fav/subscribe channels view problem! That is to not use the fav button at all. Just set your guide to subscribe and then when ever u use guide, subscribe chs will come up AND if u press guide again u get your fav chs. so u can toggle back and forth between subscribe and fav channels using guide button.
BUT if u ever touch the fav button again, the ability to toggle in guide diasppears.... and will need to be reset
Ill be making an instructional video on this shortly 8>)

and just as I was settling in to living with the new UI, and watching a recorded program, all remote controls except TV power freeze. Nada, nothing, no buttons have any effect, (and I have 2 remotes and neither have any effect....). when the recording ends the picture freezes....
Have to turn cable box off by hand using power button, no effect, have to unplug for a reboot...

Navigator is now installed. Now I can only power up the box by rebooting it. Also the last 2 nights I have set it to tape shows and both nights it has recorded one on NBC and continued to tape this channel until until someone has rebooted the system in the morning. During this time it has NOT recorded any other programs. Anyone else having this issue? Tonight I won't be taping shows on NBC. These are only the most serious issues, there are too many to list

The guide marks the shows I have set up to record with red dots as it should. Both times I had 2 or 3 shows set to tape on the same channel one after the other. It tapes as 8+ hours of the first show.

Im sure my previous posts will catch up to me but I thought I would update you on my status as of 4pm. Since running last night after the 2am software update and having rested for several hours, my setbox now 4pm wont turn on, the remotes (I have 3) turns the tv on but no setbox. The power button on the setbox has no effect of course. The good news is that the time displays correctly on the setbox.
Will a pull the power plug and reboot work? Seems so....guide and fav buttons are now toggleing. Im setting up my smart remote to turn my power bar on and off so I can reboot this sucker from the comfort of my arm chair.
Eevery session is an adventure....
PS Is there any way I can disable any further updates? I'm serious, it seems to work for now and can we stop playing with it !!!!???? Maybe incorporate a "stop updates" setting?

@stoneball As no-one from Rpgers has yet to state the obvious, go to the store and get your machine replaced, or at least get them to give you a loaner to run alongisde yours (till you have a chance to view your recorded porgams).
See if it can handle the NEW and IMPROVED NAVIGATR.

my current box is the second nextbox 3 since 2 months!!!

I recently went through a couple B 4 getting a good one, back in August/Septtember.
Rogers QA on refurbs is questionable. If it turns on and can handle a factory reset (ie. a reboot wiping the HD clean and settings back to factory conditions) , its shrink-wrapped and put back on the shelf.
I've asked through the mods here for Rogers to do bit of analysis on refurb returns.
From my very limited sample of a few people on this forum. I think it must as high as 50%.

1. UPDATES I TOTALLY AGREE - hundreds of downloads and they last A LONG TIME.
Then reboots and VODs ARE "undefined"
Rogers phone support "wait 30 minutes" (More like 3 hours) and why should I wait?
2. Seems with EVERY download more and more MOVIE channel are "UNAVAILABLE" at this time!
3. HOW TO DISABLE POWER-SAVING feature???
4. Is there any way for the reminders to GO TO THE PROGRAM / CHANNEL without having to be in the room to hit "okay"?
Thank you

You're not missing much - I'd leave it!

I do believe you've hit the nail squarely on the head. That's the only explanation I can see for all the defective boxes being recycled back into the system. The testing of returned Nextboxes must be about as thorough as the testing of Navigatr before it was released.

Sick to bloody death of this . .
Got up early again to reboot the 3 tv's. The Guide said "no information available" and therefore no previously scheduled programs would record. Rebooting re-installed the Guide but all programs scheduled to record, either a single program or a scheduled series, disappeared.
I have been trying all day to re-program them individually (and that has taken several hours to write them all down, i.e. channel, station , date and time) and every time it keeps saying "program already scheduled". However, there are no tiles showing in the "List" to indicate the program has been scheduled. There is also no "red dot" in the guide either.
So what the . ????? How can I fix this???? I am paying for this service and it is only getting worse!!! Do not edit this, I want to emphasize how completly annoyed I am and that is putting it mildly. Also, do not tell me how sorry everyone at Rogers is for this inconvenience.

Noticed this too. Not sure how to browse non favourite channels any more. Box seems even more laggy now too.
01-09-2016 12:24 PM
Sailorman u can use this kludge to browse non fav chs. set guide to all or subscribed, and now when u use guide u can toggle between all or subscribed and fav by pressing on the guide button a second time.
BUT if u ever touch the fav buttom again you are back to square 1, the guide settings go to fav default.
Also someone says the guide subscribe setting doesnt really show only subscribe.
Also an update. my box survived the nightly software updates and turns on/off without rebooting and the guide kludge settings remain
