Is there a way to turn it off? I like to wake up with the TV on.
Also, when I turn on my tv it always displays the screen saver, I have to press the Rogers button for the TV to come on.

@McCreadyFamily The only thing that you can currently do is change the theme by going into "Settings > Device Settings > Screen Saver > Screen Saver Type" and choosing from either Landscape, Animals or Entertainment.

Okay... but the reason why Rogers (or any IPTV service provider) needs to shut the set-top box off after a reasonable period of inactivity is to counter people who just leave their set-top boxes on, streaming endlessly with nobody watching, wasting network bandwidth and tying up (expensive) resources in their back-end infrastructure. It's as wasteful as leaving your water running constantly... and the only thing stopping you from doing that is that your water consumption is metered.

We understand, but Rogers doesn't NEED to turn it off as you stated, and if we want to keep the TV streaming, I think that's our prerogative.

I agree. I pay for 24/7 TV.
And to my original complaint - if the box stops streaming when I turn the TV off, fine, but it should kick itself out of scrceen saver mode when i turn it back on without an additional button press.

Actually, there are power saver regulations that all device providers now need to follow. Cable boxes were once huge power wasters and governments have mandated that the power requirements be lowered as much as possible since many homes now have many devices. Power saver modes are but one way to meet these regulations.

The Rogers box will turn itself back on with a press of any button on the Rogers remote. Some devices do not work well with HDMI-CEC or "alexa" or many other recent IOT devices. I'm sure that in time Rogers box likely will and we have provided a couple of options in this or other threads to do what you want, like Harmony.
There are lots of devices that do not "come on" (automatically) when you turn on a TV for example. The way the Rogers boxes work are programmed by Comcast who supply the firmware and this firmware was programmed this way for a specific reason, like not getting the box out of synch with the TV for example when used by the vast majority of people who do use the Rogers remote.
Yes, it would be nice to have certain features (options) and mentioning them here means that Rogers can work on those features if they are something that many people want.

okay, but is this opinion or can you share a link to those government regulations you mention specific to this situation. In all the conversations I've had with Rogers, this has never been mentioned. What's next? ...curfew hours on lights that are on for more than 5 hours? As mentioned by another commenter, we are paying 24/7 and quite frankly this current service from Rogers in my mind is still in Beta mode. Sound dies and have to change the channel, shut down the TV or reboot the box to get sound back. Recordings are still a problem from time to time having the recordings freeze when you watch them.
I see you say you are not a Rogers employee, but what exactly is a "Rogers Community Resident Expert?. Thanks, and appreciate your comment/feedback.

If you're not familiar with the Resident Experts, they are tenured members of the community who have a demonstrated track record of posting helpful, objective responses and have committed a significant amount of their time to building the Rogers Community Forums.
They're identified by the Resident Expert rank and icon in the community:

Brian Dietz, a spokesman for the National Cable & Telecommunications Assn., said that by 2017 about 90% of the boxes would meet a standard set by the federal government, though a more ambitious standard was already being established.
I couldn't find the exact standards or regulations, however, the companies supplying devices/firmware preferred to "self regulate" before governments put even more stringent controls in place.

I installed IgniteTv in my moms retirement residence. I leave it on her favourite Italian channel. She is not capable of using the remote. When I visit the next day the screensaver is active with the audio playing. Annoying is an understatement. There should be an option to disable the screen saver full stop. People have different needs and don’t all fit in a single box. Assuming the user can simply click any button on the remote to restore the picture takes for granted that everyone has the ability to do so. Someone forgot to ask what if the user can’t. Oh well, we can just pretend they don’t exist I guess.

I have had my TV wake me up for years and with the previous HD boxes I simply left them on upon going to sleep and the TV timer would turn on in the morning and the channel is displayed. With Ignite TV it goes to screensaver to a maximum setting of 5 hours so is there anyway to entirely disable it OR is there some way to activate the Ignite Box at a certain time so that it will display a channel instead of the screensaver at a specific time?

Hi; Leaving the Tv on is NOT like leaving a running faucet on! I have pets too, and I live alone too, so if I go out for a couple hours shopping, it keeps my pets feeling like everything is normal, and it also makes it appear as if someone is home, for security reasons. Its like leaving a fan on for the pets comfort too. But besides that! I Listen to the TV while I'm surfing the net at my desk across the room quite often I have a boxing match or a sports game on..and then the darn tv goes out! What a pain in the butt! I tye have to get up walk across the room and then say "channel so and so" into the voice remote, and uit still takes another 20 or 30 seconds to come back on! A lot can happen in 30 seconds in a boxing match! Geez! whoever thought this one up obvioudly doesn't watch a lot of T.V ! PLEASE CHANGE THIS SOON!

I just switched from Bell and it never gave me this "are you awake?" notice every few hours. Very annoying.
Welcome to the Community!
Bell must have changed something then because when I had Fibe TV, the wireless receivers and PVR would go to sleep after a few hours of inactivity, just like the Ignite TV receivers.
Do you happen to have the Power Saver enabled in Settings / Device Settings / Power Preferences? If you turn Power Saver Off, this should lengthen the time period before the Ignite set-top box goes idle.

Never happened with my Bell 4K unless I paused a recording for half an hour. Never with live TV. I don't want a longer time... I want to be able to turn it off.

Unfortunately Landscape is set .. though what is shown is a continuous loop of Rogers Tips, Kids channel ads, upcoming shows on Crave etc.etc. I called Tech Support and they couldn’t change it!
Nice guy, but suggested I use Animals instead!

OMG, I just switched to Ignite TV and this is the MOST idiotic feature. Rogers needs to update their software to allow customers to DISABLE this . ! No one wants or needs this feature, TV's themselves have a sleep feature if they want to use it, the Rogers box does NOT need this annoying and utterly useless feature.
