We just recently got a rogers email account having just switched from Bell.
What are the details so that this rogers/yahoo account can be views from within our primary Gmail account?
Within Gmail there is the option to Check mail from other accounts (using POP3):
And this worked well for our previous Bell sympatico account. What is the setup info for our rogers email using POP3?
Thanks for your advice.

To forward emails from another email provider to Gmail, you’ll have to change your settings in your yahoo email account, not in Gmail.
Thanks for the reply 'Sannecia'. But I seem to have had success without changing anything in my rogers account ie doing it all from within GMAIL using the information shown in this Rogers link:

Hello @21Rouge
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Forums
To forward emails from another email provider to Gmail, you’ll have to change your settings in your yahoo email account, not in Gmail. Please visit Yahoo’s help center to find out if automatic forwarding is available and how to set it up. Feel free to review the steps below.
Hope this helps.

Glad you found the POP setting @21Rouge, rather than forwarding you can use the gmail as the client for Rogers server.
However, @RogersSannecia gave info that is actually usually missed by a lot of folks, so good share Sannecia. 🙂
Actually, out of curiousity... Did you test it out yet? Tell me how the Gmail works as a Client?
I was thinking for doing that eventually for my other emails. So I can access everything in one spot.

It works just fine so far.

Wohoo! Good to hear. I have too many emails and gotta sort mine out.
And since Gmail app itself seems stable I rather use it so thanks for the update Rouge 🙂

At the risk of being a bit contrarian, why bother? This is a new Rogers/Yahoo email account, so it's not like people you know will email you there. And I don't think Rogers will ever email you there - they will email you at the email address that is associated with your account at My Rogers.
I know a whole bunch of people whom I don't think have ever created their Rogers/Yahoo email accounts, and I don't think they're missing anything...

Maybe.
Except there are some sites/forums that insist on an ISP provided email address as a requirement for registration.

I agree with @VivienM
Most people use Gmail itself or Microsoft account -- Something email that is linked with other services.
I have 2 Rogers email. And It doesn't get any thing except Rogers related email that I have subscribed to. That is.
@21Rouge - I have never heard of ISP enforced email for registration. That is actually the first time I have heard of it. (Unless something has slipped my mind).

I've vaguely heard of it - essentially, it's a way to try and keep away people using 'throwaway' email accounts from Hotmail/Gmail/Yahoo/whatever...
My view on email is that everyone should get a domain name and use that instead of either ISP/school/free/work accounts, but ever since Google/Microsoft discontinued their free custom domain email hosting, that's become a much pricier option...

Agreed. I would prefer custom / personalized domain myself.
But I assume someone has to take the cost for a domain name... passing the cost to the user makes most sense from gmail/microsoft standpoint... with the amount of users they have i mean.

Since mid-December 2016 my Gmail account is unable to import email from my rogers.com email account. Gmail reports the following:
Error: Server is temporarily unavailable.
Server returned error "Error in RETR command: [SYS/TEMP] problem retrieving message."
I've reset passwords (both in Yahoo and Gmail), checked the ports are set per Yahoo's web pages. Nothing seems to fix this.
Has anybody else experienced this?

Hello @JayBlackwood,
Can you clarify which POP settings you have attempted to use? Take a look at post #3 in this thread for the correct ports and server info. Have you tried to remove and re-add the Rogers email account?

I am the original poster and since Feb 1 2017 I too am experiencing the exact same symptoms as described by JayBlackwood.
I have checked the settings and I did have the server "pop.broadband.rogers.com". Yet when I select "Save Changes" (even when no changes are done) one gets the message:
Unable to establish secure SSL connection to pop.broadband.rogers.com
(No password change has been done by me)

Just used pop.mail.yahoo.com and now it works....which contradicts JayBlackwood's recent success.
EDIT: But now it is downloading all my rogers emails again sending them to the gmail account 😞 :(.

I had the download issue as well. It was painful having to clean up all that garbage but at least it is working now.
No idea why the pop.mail.yahoo.com worked for you though...

What is the best way to deal with the dload of the same emails because of the change of server? Within gmail did you simply delete all UNREAD messages? These messages were being dumped into my gmail inbox at a frantic pace and I made the mistake of selecting ALL and then deleting not realizing this was putting into trash 'regular' gmail emails (along with the unread rogers emails).

I've been having the exact same problem in Gmail, trying to access my Rogers accounts, for about 5+ days now and when I changed the POP3 address to the one you listed here, it worked fine!
Thanks soooo much for taking the time to share this.
I spent an hour on the phone with Rogers tech and they first tried to tell me it was a Google issue. Then they tried telling me I was doing something wrong, even though it had been working just fine for several years!
They they took remote control of my computer to try it.
All failed, of course.
Then they basically put it the black hole known as "I'll create a ticket on the issue" and that was the end of it.
You are the one who helped me.
Again, huge thanks!!!!

I thought I was back on track gtting emails redirected frtom my rogers account to my gmail account with the change to pop.mail.yahoo.com.
But today I noticed, when I logged into my rogers email account that there were absolutely no messages in the INBOX! But I still get rogers "inbox" emails appearing, as expected, in my gmail account. Is there a setting in yahoo/rogers email or in gmail which would explain this behaviour?
