widely varying basic volume levels on tv channels

Noticed that volume levels on Rogers cable tv channels vary widely, forcing us to constantly adjust the volume level as we switch channels during tv viewing.

Is this problem shared by anybody else?  Any possible solutions suggested?

Re: widely varying basic volume levels on tv channels

Hey @vnowotny!

Volume changes can come as quite an inconvenience to say the least! There have been a few instances of this reported over the years, but it doesn't seem like everyone is experiencing it. Though some small level of volume difference can be normal between networks, if it's more of an extreme adjustment I would definitely check to see if your TV has an automatic volume setting sometimes referred to as "Advanced Auto Volume."

Has anyone else in the community experienced this issue? What were your experiences, were you able to resolve?

Many thanks @RogersAndy!  Will check if our tv has that function.

Re: widely varying basic volume levels on tv channels

I just got new cable boxes and one of my TVs has this problem. The other TV is fine. Weird!
On one of these community forums, someone suggested to change Audio Output to 'other' and Audio Range to 'narrow' and it is MUCH better.
My other TV is still set on Dolby output and narrow.

Here's that link. I also discuss possible settings in the TV's user menu for audio...
