Picture doesn't fit on the screen

I have noticed on a lot of shows the left side or right side of the screen is cut off. I have noticed this on all my boxes and TV why is this happening. Please don't say check out the zoom button as that is no the problem.

Re: Picture doesn't fit on the screen

Darn.. I was gonna say check out the zoom button....

Ok a couple of questions. How are your tv's connected to the rogers box.

Are they HDTV's and the Rogers boxes HD boxes?

Does your TV have it's own zoom/aspect settings? Mine does and it acts just like the rogers zoom button...

Does your tv have overscan options?

Re: Picture doesn't fit on the screen

3 are HD Boxes and 1 isn't and some of the TVs have zoom but it's not set.

All TV's are HD. I don't think I have overscan on any of them.

I tried to even take the TV of 16:9 and  put them to 4:3 tv size and still see stuf getting cutt off.

Hmm.. I still wish it was a zoom issue...

Can you check in the tv settings menus to see if you have an overscan option..

Also how are you connecting the tv's? Does the TV have a display input that can tell you what signal it is receiving? Does it was something like 1080i 720p 480p 480i?

Had the same issue. TV listing channel didn't fit either did channels with scoreboards or tickers.. I tried every setting on the TV. Didn't realize the PVR box had a zoom function aswell.  (On the remote bottom right light grey button).

Fixed my issue completely. TV set to Auto and box set to Stretch 1080i

Cheers and thanks.

Re: Picture doesn't fit on the screen

I've noticed the same thing when I zoom 16:9 shows on standard def channels. Ever since the "big upgrade" none of my boxes zoom correctly, It's like it is too big and not centred. Any one else notice?

Re: Picture doesn't fit on the screen

I get this sometimes when switching from an non-HD station to a HD station.

1. If I flip to another HD station and back, it is OK

2. you can also play with the Zoom (#) button on the remote to set the xoom correctly

Re: Picture doesn't fit on the screen

Part of the reason why they dont 'zoom' correctly is the way they were broadcast.

The old IPG, outputed sd channels in 480i, and then HD channels in 1080i.

Now, all channels are broadcast in 1080i, it upconverts the SD channels.

Re: Picture doesn't fit on the screen

I have had this problem for the past two days.  Some channels that previously fit the screen no longer do. Some respond to using the stretch aspect (picture is slightly distorted) and others still don't fit even when switched to strech.  As I said this has only become a recent problem.

Re: Picture doesn't fit on the screen

Are you using the Rogers remote or the TV remote to stretch? You can run into these issues by accident if you press the # key on the Rogers remote or whatever the zoom key is on your TV remote.
