New Rogers RF remote

Have yet to pick one up myself.. but will possibly try this week.

Its an RF remote, so it doesnt need line of sight.
This will be a great asset to people wanting to set up a home theatre, etc type of setup where the box may not be right infront of the TV itself.

Though.. the TV on/off part of it (or any other paired devices) will still be done via IR and not RF.

Re: New Rogers RF remote

Good evening @RyeGuy13,

Thank you for your post & Welcome to the forums!

We're glad to know you enjoy using the Champion Remote as well as your 4K terminal.

You should technically have the ability to pair your RF remote with your equipment.

You can find more information regarding the setup by clicking on the following link: LINK

Champion RF remote connect to an RF to IR extender

My question I guess is, can the Rogers Champion remote connect to an wireless RF to IR extender similar to a logitech remote?

My guess would be no. I would guess the RF part only pairs with the STB. The control of all other equipment would be via IR. You could get an IR blaster or IR extender to use with any other hidden equipment though.  Usually pretty inexpensive online.

Really unimpressive to see that the playlist issue remains unresolved after over a year. I had to replace my remote recently, and was given the new one. I used playlist all the time

2am, I'm on the phone with rogers and after 20 minutes it's concluded they don't know how I can make the playlist.

I come here, and find out, I simply can't do that with this remote. So I waited an hour in line at rogers store last week for nothing.

That was written a year ago. It's bad enough they dropped the ball on creating a fully functional remote, they still haven't fixed it! Come on!

Re: New Rogers RF remote

Playlist??

I am guessing that you mean the FAVORITES list of channels?

While i dont have the remote... i think its doable? @57 or another may be able to confirm.

Hitting the guide button twice, should bring you to the favorites list (for the 'browsing' of it.)
There are a few ways to add channels to the list.

Playlists were discussed recently, but I can't find the thread right now. This is regarding playlists in on-demand channels where you need the "FAV" button to invoke playlist functionality (post 184 of this thread). The RF remote is missing the FAV button, so you'll need your old remote (or something like a Harmony remote) if you wish to do OD playlists.

This is different from the favourite functionality of channels, where there is a workaround.

Just as an FYI, it appears that you can do playlists on the Rogers on Demand website, if that's something that interests anyone.

Just a clarification on On Demand playlists

On set top box:

It is all set up to be able to do this - when you find a show you want to watch later, you can click FAV on the old remotes.  A star will show beside the chosen item for the playlist.

The B button brings up the playlist and you can clear them or play from there.

But....

On my own PVR Nextbox 3.0 I have always been able to do the saving of the playlist, but as soon as I exit out of On-Demand, watch the PVR, watch TV live, when I go back into On demand, the playlist is no longer populated.

Don't know if others have experienced this.

Seems like a feature, trying to be Netflix like, they wrote the code for it, then forgot to keep it saved in memory for the next use.

So for me, on my box it is a useless feature, unless I was only going to ever use On Demand - but you can't turn the box off either, it will be lost then too.

On Website

I found the playlist feature to add a show to the playlist on the website,

You will find it under a selected show, or in a series, you can add the whole series,

but again....

This one you can find the play list, but I had to do searching through the FAQ's.  Not really intuitive -

If you click on your account name xxxx@rogers.com, a drop down will appear, and you will find

My Rentals

My Playlist

My Profile

and Sign out.

Now that one took me a while to find, but it is there - full saved playlist functionality - but not on the set top box for me - oh and incase you may thing the playlist will show up on the TV On Demand Play list - it doesn't.

Connecting VCR/DVD players

Hi - I have a URC-2125BC0-BX remote. I can not seem to any codes to work to communicate with my Citizen C508DVD-BLU.  None of the codes in the setup help guide that came with the remote seem to work. Can I get some help?

Often "off brand" devices many not be in the database of the remote. Usually the remote has a "search" functionality, whereby you repeatedly press a button to scan every code in the database.  If the code is not in the database, then you're out of luck and may need to look into a fully programmable remote like a Harmony, or use two remotes.

The best way to program DVD or VCR or Blue ray..

1. Turn device ON

2. Press DVD once and let it go.

2. Press and hold SETUP, Until the DVD blinks two times.

3. Press and hold OK until the DVD or VCR or Blue Ray goes off.

4. Once Device goes off, release OK button.

5. Press and hold SETUP until DVD blinks two times.

If this does not work, citizen at 1-800-663-5954 and ask code for universal remote.

This is the best we can do.

Hi - Yes, I've tried the search functionality (I tried for several minutes, but it would be nice if the system indicated it has tried all the codes it could). No luck.  I was hoping that someone else with this DVD player had discovered it. I've looked through the codes of various remotes distributed by Rogers in Ottawa, and haven't found any of them work either.

I  understand that you are trying hard. Now i am giving you the basic code for all DVD players.

DVD / Laser Disc 0490, 0503, 0521, 0522, 0533, 0539, 0545, 0558, 0571, 0573, 0591, 0634, 0670, 0672, 0698, 0715, 0741, 0744, 0783, 0820, 0821, 0864, 1506,0023, 0059, 0059, 0128

Please note that first digit is "0" in all cases. You can try all these code first and then you can add 1 or 2 or 3 in place of First "0".

for example 1490,1503,1521 and so on

                       2490,2503,2521 and so on

                       3490,3503,3521 and so on

If this does not work, calling manufacturer is only way out. Sorry for the trouble.

If you want to put remote in IR mode, some function may not work.
Try this but you will loose RF mode..

1.      Press CBL once.
2.      Press setup and hold it until CBL flashed 2 times.
3.      Enter 981 ..wait  until CBL will flash 4 times, (this will delete all programming on remote).
4.      Press setup and hold it until CBL flashed 2 times.
5.      Enter 982 ..wait  until CBL will flash 4 times.
6.      Press setup and hold it until CBL flashed 2 times.
7.      Press 1877.

After the remote is programmed, there will be some changes..

1.       “Aspect” button will not work.
2.       “Info” button will take customer to Favorite menu.
3.       “Menu” button will directly take customer to settings menu.
4.       “Back” button will work as Info button.
5.       All other buttons will work normal.
