Re: Documentation for Nextbox 3.0 9865HD

Hello, I've not used this service before. Glad to know you exist!

I've just set up a Nextbox 3 and am having an issue. I want the box to default to channel 518 (CTV) when I turn it on - just like my old Scientific Atlantic PVR. But I can't find a set up option for this. Does it exist?

Thanks!

Re: Documentation for Nextbox 3.0 9865HD

The only problem with the downloaded Rogers Enhanced Guide is it is so old it predates the 9865 (Nextbox 3.0), and has several errors/inaccuracies.

For example:

There are two guide views available; Classic Modern

HD (appears by default) which shows the program

listings at the top of the screen and the video in the

bottom right hand corner.

And Modern HD which shows the program listings

over top of the video screen.

<< First off the text is against the opposite picture. Secondly, the Modern HD mode no longer works or exists (disabled by a firmware update) >>

  1. You will be prompted to enter your PIN. The default PIN for Parental

Control and Purchase is 0000 – Rogers recommends changing these

to protect your security.

<< directly contradicts>>

Did You Know

The default PIN for your account is

  1. Rogers recommends using this

for blocking and purchasing to reduce

the likelihood of forgetting it.

PIP (Picture in picture)

Press to turn PIP on or off.

Press to switch video focus in PIP (and hear audio).

Press CH (MENU)  / (MENU) to change channels within PIP.

<< Button pictures show MENU/MENU instead of CH (+) / (-) >>

  1. Record up to 2 programs simultaneously or watch Live TV while recording another program.

<< Obviously never updated for ages to cover 8 tuners in the 9865>>

  • You can playback your TV recordings from any TV in your home with Whole Home PVR. A

Rogers Technician will need to install Whole Home PVR in your home and you are required

to have at least 1 (up to 2) PVR(s), at least 2 digital set-top boxes, no more than 8 digital settop

boxes in total, and at least 2 active TV outlets to set up the service. There is a one-time

installation fee however there is no additional monthly charge. At this time, NextBox™ HD

PVR (Cisco Explorer 8642 HD PVR) and the NextBox™ HD Terminal (Cisco Explorer 4642 HD)

devices are the only digital set-top boxes compatible with Whole Home PVR.

<< Obviously never updated to include the 9865 >>

Likely it was removed, etc.. since its not going to be really useful anymore now with Navigatr coming out?

Re: Documentation for Nextbox 3.0 9865HD

If could have been linked to the page witn Navigatr documentation, but it was removed it was premature, many customers still have RTN 5.1 - what should have happend is it links to a new page giving you a choice of old RTN (5.1 and earlier) and new Navigatr, with an image of the screen from each one to enable someone to easily see what they have if they are not sure.

But of course that assumes the Rogers web design team are better than the Navigatr team.
